4. Coefficients 9. Quotient
5. Monomial 10. Reverse

IV. DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON. Throughout this part, the teacher will use a Constructivist Approach in
her teaching method.

STRATEGY. The teacher will adopt an Inductive Teaching and Learning Approach where teaching begins with
specific examples presented by the teacher and requires learners to make observations to formulate a general rule or
theory.

Teacher’s Task Learners’ Task/Response

The teacher will motivate students through

The students will share their ideas.

an activity entitled Spot the Common. She

will show the following pictures to the class.

The teacher will ask the following questions.

Guide Questions:

1. What are the common objects in the

pictures? Answers of students may vary but in case of

3. Can you spot the things or actions that can
be found in one picture but not on the other

common monomial factor,
expressed the given polynomial
as a product of the common
monomial factor and the quotient
obtained when the given
polynomial is divided by the
common monomial factor.
 Factoring a polynomial means
writing it as a product of other
polynomials. It is the reverse
process of multiplication.
1. x 2+ 6 x+ 8=( x+ 4)(x +2)
product factors
2. a(b + c) = ab + ac
a. Factor xy + xz
Get the CMF, x
Divide xy + xz by x
Quotient: y + z
Thus xy + xz = ( y + z)

b. Factor 5n² + 15n

Get the CMF, 5n
Divide 5n² + 15 n by 5n
Quotient: n + 3
Thus 5n² + 15n
= 5n (n + 3)

c. Factor 27y² + 9y -18

The CMF is 9
Divide 27y² + 9y -18 by 9
The quotient is 3y² + y -2
Thus 27y² + 9y -18
= 9 ( 3y² + y -2)
LETS DECODE!

Group Activity

Question: What fruit is the main product of The students will go to their group and answer

the activity. They will show their solution.
You will match the products in Column A
with the factors in Column B to decode the
answer. Expected Answer:

PINEAPPLE

APPLICATION

Generalization:

The teacher will ask the following questions

to conclude the lesson.
Students answer may vary.
 Who can summarize in his/her own
words what we have discussed
today?
