I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson,the students will be able to:
A. Analyze the text and its meaning;
B. Value the importance of hope in every hardships; and
C. Perform various tasks related to the lesson learned.

A.PRE-READING/LISTENING ACTIVITIES
1.Unlocking of difficulties
Directions: Match the underline words with its meaning.

The teacher shows a picture of a student studying with a clouds on its head.Each group
Is given a bubble. On the bubble, they will write their biggest dream and answer the following questions.
Guide Questions:
1.What keeps you moving or what motivates you to achieve this dream?
2.Does anyone discourage you or said that you cannot make it?
3.How do you respond to this discouragement around you?
The assisstant leader of the group will discuss what they have written in the cloud infront of the class.

2.Motive:
Today we are going to watch a motivational video from TED TALK titled overcoming hopelessness by
Nick Vujicic, an Australian American Christian evangelist and motivational speaker born with tetra-
amelia syndrome,a rare disorder characterized by the absence of arms and legs.Take note of powerful or
striking words or lines said by the speaker.
B.DURING READING/LISTENING ACTIVITY
Directions: The students watch the TED TALK. The teacher will pause the video at certain times and the
teacher will ask the students to interpret the following lines.
1. We have a choice; Either to be angry for what we don’t have or be thankful for what we do have.
2. The world is a hurting place and the world needs hope and the world needs love.Without hope, we feel
like, ‘Why are we here?’
3. I have realized in life,even the wost parts of my life can be turned into good and even more special.
4. Every single human being has value and my value is not determined on how I look or what job I have
or where I am from,where I was born,how much money ,all that stuff is nothing.
5. If God doesn’t change my circumstance,He is going to use my life to be a miracle for someone else.
When you don’t get a miracle,you can still be a miracle for someone else.

III.POST READING/LISTENING ACTIVITIES:


Discussion questions:
1. Who is the speaker in the video? Describe him.
2. What are the struggles that the speaker experience for being limbless.
3. Do you believe words have impact? Why?
4. How did the speaker overcome his struggles despite his situation?
5. What are the achievements of the speaker?
6. What did the speaker do to extent help?
7. If you were him,how will you live your life with purpose despite being limbless.

Performance tasks:
Direction: The class will be divided into groups.They need to complete the task given
withiin 30 minutes.

1. Slogan- Create a slogan/quotation that would motivate or extend hope to your fellow students.
2. Word Cloud- List motivational words to help you face challenges.
3. Symbol- Draw a symbol for hope. Explain.

After 30 minutes, the leader will present their groups work.
