Checking of Attendance

Recall: Student will go to mentimeter.com to answer the

question for the review. What are the uses of common ionic
compounds?

Motivation:

This typically ignites an active discussion, as students enjoy displaying their

knowledge. Not only does this activity present a picture of the students’
background knowledge but it also motivates curiosity and enthusiasm about the
topic they are about to learn.
 The teacher will discuss the information from the learners.
Goal Orientation:
 The teacher will present the objectives of the lesson and ways
on how each objective will be achieved.

B. Development Concept Presentation

 The teacher will share her screen and present the video
presentation/clips about the covalent bond.
https://youtu.be/ZxWmyZmwXtA?t=142

 Questions: How do covalent bonds form between atoms?

 What kind of element usually forms covalent bond? Is it
possible for metals and non-metals to form non polar covalent
bond? Why? Why not? How about polar covalent bond? Why?
Why not?

 Why is it that diatomic molecules always form nonpolar

covalent bonds?

 Differentiate polar covalent form nonpolar covalent bond.

 The teacher will present process the answers of the students.

Concept Presentation
 The teacher will share her screen and present the answers for
the guide questions.
 Video will be provided for the learners to address and correct
any misconception about the polar and nonpolar covalent
bonds.

C. Engagement Groupings (Group Activity)

ACTIVITY –Bonding by Sharing of Electrons

 The teacher will divide the class into two (2) groups
 The teacher will provide the materials (periodic table) and
procedure for the activity.
 The learners will be asked to read the materials and procedure,
then answer the activity.
 After the supplying the data in the table, they will be asked to
present their answers in the guide questions provided and in
the table.

Reinforces the Concept-Activity

 Students divided into three (3 groups) to perform different
tasks, they will showcase their talents through news casting,
questions & answer through pageant and jingle making.
 Output of each group will be presented after the given allotted
time. Provided with the rubrics for grading the output.
 Outputs of each group will be presented by each representative
or group. The teacher and other members of the class will
check and provide feedback on correctness or accurateness of
the outputs.

D. Assimilation On point
 The teacher will provide the learners important points for
review in terms of definition of covalent bond, difference
between polar and nonpolar covalent bonds and how covalent
bonding takes place.
Mind /Value Review
 The teacher will ask the learners on their personal reflection on
the importance/of bonding by sharing of electrons related in
our real life situation. The teacher will determine the
understandings of learners through a simple assessment
(multiple choice questions).

V. REFLECTION The teacher will ask the learners to write in their notebook, journal or
portfolio their personal insights about the lesson using the prompts
below:
I understand that _________________________________________
I realize that ______________________________________________
I intend to ________________________________________________
