INTRODUCTION

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

This research paper is based on the topic of the Impact of Romantic

Relationships on Academic Performance of Pantalan Senior High School HUMSS

students. During adolescence, teenagers grow to be fascinated and worried in

relationship due to the fact of the preference to belong with others. As a result, it’s miles

clean that over the time; romantic relationships advantage in importance. Adolescence

crave to have an intimate romantic relationships to which love is given and obtained

without restriction. It is consistent with the need to belong concept through which people

have the willpower to attach with others in enduring, near relationships. Furthermore,

the concept states that humans “proportion” the identical want to be a component or
related with different people, and claims that all people can also additionally stay

lifestyle higher if they’re related. Myeis (2010) supported the need to belong concept

through maintain that those who discover someone complimenting their needs to whom

they could proportion their issues with, makes the ones human greater

acknowledgeable. Nowadays senior high students are synchronizing their time in both

academic and matter. Joining themselves in this romantic relationship gives them the

assurance to feel that there’s someone who will give them the care and love that they

need which gives them the motivation.

However having this kind of romantic relationship during in senior high school is

more challenging for those students who are in relationships. Teachers increase the

workloads which leads to more projects, videos, research paper and exams which gives

the challenges for the students to maintain their good academic performance and what

are the effects of romantic relationship in academic performance of the students.

In order to know the impacts the researchers conducted a Research to

determine the effects of romantic relationship on Academic Performance of HUMSS

students in Pantalan Senior High School who were involved in romantic relationship.

Lastly this study aimed to determine the advantage and disadvantage of romantic

relationship in academic performance of Humss Students.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The main issue that this research shall evaluate is the effect of Romantic

Relationship on the Academic Performance of HUMSS Students of Pantalan Senior

High School. The study aims to provide answers the following pertinent questions:

1.How does Romantic Relationship affects the Academic Performance of HUMSS

STUDENT.

2. What is the advantages & disadvantages of Romantic Relationship in Academic

Performance of HUMSS STUDENT.

3. The importance of factors that affects Academic Performance of HUMSS

STUDENTS.

4.What is the profile of the respondents in term of:

a. Gender

b. General average in S.Y 2020-2021 1 st Sem

c. General average in S.Y 2020-2021 2nd Sem

d. Age

5. What is the status of time management of the respondents:

a. In studying
b. With their partner

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study aimed to determine the effects of Romantic Relationship in the

Academic Performance of HUMSS Student of Pantalan senior High S.Y 2021-2022.

The finding show that romantic relationships have a major impact on academic

achievement. Because , most romantic relationships resulted in higher levels of

depressive symptoms and lower levels of academic motivation. The study’s findings

indicated the dating more frequently would predict lower academic success.
This study highlights the effects of time management, motivation and anxiety

level of students who are involved in romantic relationship on their academic

performance. According to Lucas & Curpuz (2007), “quality personal relationships that

provide stability, trust, and caring such as romantic relationships can increase learners

sense of belonging, self-respect and self-acceptance, and provide a positive climate for

learning”. And thus increase academic performance.

This finding shows that students are engaging in a romantic relationship while

studying can bring companionship, feelings of happiness, feeling of being loved or

intimacy and more positive esteem. Romantic relationships therefore are said to be the

cause of motivation for teenagers in pursuing their studies.

SCOPE , LIMITATIONS AND DELIMITATION

The scope and delimitations of this study is two know the effects of Romantic

Relationships to the Academic Performance of Pantalan Senior High School HUMSS

Student S.Y 2021-2022.

So, The study was conducted to determined whether or not there is relationship

between academic performance and motivation with anxiety, time management in

studying and time spent with their partner. The area of investigation of the researchers

is selected to Grade 12 HUMSS Students of Pantalan senior High School composed

who section to answer the researcher questionnaire and interview.
