MECHANICS FOR CHRISTMAS VILLAGE COMPETITION

1. Inter-school Christmas Giant Star Contest

a. The contest is open to all schools and colleges in Iligan City. Only the students, parents
of the students, teaching staff, administrative staff and employees may be allowed to
contribute and help making and decorating the Christmas Giant Star.

There could only be one entry per school. There is no entry fee for this contest.
This contest is divided into three (3) categories, the following are the categories:
i. Elementary Category
ii. High School Category
iii. College Category

b. The schools and colleges who wants to participate the contest must submit their letter
of Intent for Participation before or on November 25, 2022 to Mr. Darwin Manubag
Ph.D., the City Administrator, at the City Administrator’s Office, City Hall, Buhanginan
Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City

c. Maximum budget for lights and decorations for the Giant Star should not exceed
P2,000.00. Each Participating school should submit an itemized expense for the
materials used.

The use of recyclable materials to decorate the Giant Star is highly encouraged.
Hazardous materials are not allowed. This shall be checked by the Organizing
Committee.

d. The Christmas Giant Star must be decorated with lights since all the stars will be lit up
simultaneously during the Christmas Village lighting Activity at the kick-off ceremony.
However, to ensure that all the lights are safe and electrical connections are properly
installed, the participating schools and colleges must secure a clearance from the CPDO
and CEO. The CPDO and CEO personnel shall visit the stations of the participants
anytime between November 25-30 to issue clearance.

e. The Giant Star should reflect the school’s or college’s Mission and Vision.

f. The name of the school must be tagged in the Giant Star or may be part of the design of
the Giant Star. Moreover, a one-page description (not exceeding 200 words) of the
Giant Star must be creatively hung in the Star as part of the decoration.

g. The participating school must ensure that the Giant Star is kept in good condition from
the time of installation until the judging process has been completed. While the
participating school must maintain their entries, they are not allowed to make any
substantial changes or modifications to the star after it has been set up. They may make
minor adjustments and replacements if deemed necessary.

The committee shall be constantly monitoring the Giant Stars for any changes or
adjustments. All entries will be photographed on December 1, 2022 for documentation
and monitoring.

h. Final judging will be on December 10, 2022 with the following citeria:

Adherence to the theme (school’s Mission and Vision) - 20%


Use of recyclable, environment-friendly (biodegradable) materials - 20%
Artistry (creativity, harmony) - 30%
Originality - 30%
TOTAL - 100%

i. Winners will be announced during the awarding ceremony on December 11, 2022.

j. Cash Prizes and certificate will be awarded to the 1 st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. Cash
prizes are as follows:
1st Place - Php 10,000
nd
2 Place - Php 7,500
3rd Place - Php 5,000

2. Giant Star Contest (coop category)

a. The contest is open to all Cooperatives. Only the employees and other stakeholders may
be allowed to contribute and to help making and decorating the Christmas Giant Star.

There could only be one entry per participant. There is no entry fee for this contest.

b. The Coopertaive who wants to participate the contest must submit their letter of Intent
for Participation before or on November 25, 2022 to Mr. Darwin Manubag Ph.D., the
City Administrator, at the City Administrator’s Office, City Hall, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o,
Iligan City

c. Maximum budget for lights and decorations for the Giant Star should not exceed
P2,000.00. Each Participating school should submit an itemized expense for the
materials used.

3. Christmas all over the World

a. The contest is Industries in Iligan City. Only the members and employees may be
allowed to contribute and help making and decorating the Christmas Giant Star.

There could only be one entry per school. The participating industry will choose what
country where they want to get inspiration. There is no entry fee for this contest.

b. The industry who wants to participate the contest must submit their letter of Intent for
Participation before or on November 25, 2022 to Mr. Darwin Manubag Ph.D., the City
Administrator, at the City Administrator’s Office, City Hall, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o,
Iligan City

c. Maximum budget for lights and decorations for the Christmas all over the World should
not exceed P20,000.00. Each Participating school should submit an itemized expense for
the materials used.

d. The Christmas all over the worlds must be decorated with lights since all the stars will be

4. Adopt and Light a Tree Contest (Bankers Club and establishments)

a. The contest is open to all Bankers Club members and establishments in Iligan City. Only
the employees and other stakeholders may be allowed to contribute and help making
and decorating the Tree.

There could only be one entry per participant. There is no entry fee for this contest.

b. The establishments who want to participate the contest must submit their letter of
Intent for Participation before or on November 25, 2022 to Mr. Darwin Manubag Ph.D.,
the City Administrator, at the City Administrator’s Office, City Hall, Buhanginan Hills,
Pala-o, Iligan City

c. . The participant will choose a specific tree around the Buhanginan Hills to be decorated.

d. Maximum budget for lights and decorations for the tree should not exceed P2,000.00.
Each Participating school should submit an itemized expense for the materials used

Hazardous materials are not allowed. This shall be checked by the Organizing
Committee.

e. The adopted tree must be decorated with lights since all the stars will be lit up
simultaneously during the Christmas Village lighting Activity at the kick-off ceremony.
However, to ensure that all the lights are safe and electrical connections are properly
installed, the participating schools and colleges must secure a clearance from the CPDO
and CEO. The CPDO and CEO personnel shall visit the stations of the participants

f. The name of the establishment must be tagged in the adopted tree or may be part of
the design of the tree.

g. The participating establishment must ensure that the Adopted Tree is kept in good
condition from the time of installation until the judging process has been completed.
While the participating establishment must maintain their entries, they are not allowed
to make any substantial changes or modifications to the star after it has been set up.
They may make minor adjustments and replacements if deemed necessary.

The committee shall be constantly monitoring the Giant Stars for any changes or
adjustments. All entries will be photographed on December 1, 2022 for documentation
and monitoring.

5. Kiddie Wonderland (LGU Offices)

a. All Iligan City Local Government Units are enjoyed to participate this contest. Only
employees may be allowed to contribute and help making and decorating the Kiddie
Wonderland

There could only be one entry per Department with fun amenities for Kids. There is no
entry fee for this contest.

b. The participating departments must submit their letter of Intent for Participation before
or on November 25, 2022 to Mr. Darwin Manubag Ph.D., the City Administrator, at the
City Administrator’s Office, City Hall, Buhanginan Hills, Pala-o, Iligan City

Originality - 30%
TOTAL - 100%
