Good evening father Gab,

I’m done viewing the teaching profession videos, and I learned a lot about it. To sum up what I’ve
learned; Types of teachers are By choice, chance, force, accident. And the Teaching profession is
regarded in 3ways: Teaching as a profession- “teaching is a noble profession” the word professional
means more years of preparation and you must strive for excellence and get a lot of experience and
never stop learning and dedicate yourself to service. Teaching as a vocation means it is a calling and you
are committed to the total transformation of the learner, consider teaching as a lifetime commitment
and aim for quality teaching through the years. Teaching as a mission it is a task assigned to you in this
world and also calls for a continuing professional education “once a teacher forever a student. And
continually seeks to improve.

 professional development strategies

During the pre Hispanic period- I’ve learned that there’s no established formal schooling, teachers are
parents and tribal leaders at home, and their aim was teaching kids the life skills, security and survival,
create tools for hunting food, adherence to moral code of the group, preserve the traditions and
language.

During Spanish period- There are free public school system (established educational decree 1836), we
are taught about Christianity and religion and the teachers were Spanish missionaries, normal schools
like Philippine normal school which is run by Jesuits and they only educate male teachers and in 1875
normal schools for women were established. And I learned that the Spaniards are the one who started
training teachers.

American regime- Soldiers served as 1st teachers, Filipinos the bright ones were given an opportunity to
be educated in American college or university for free sponsored by the government and the students
were called the pensionados. In 1949 teacher’s preparation became 4yrs and the school was renamed
from pns to pnc.

Marcos regime- P.D 1006 of 1976 known as decree of professionalizing teaching, Marcos is the one who
professionalized teacher

1994- EDCOM, the study that teachers are low quality

Once I become a teacher, I need to be confident, dignified looking, make sure that im doing the right
thing to get the respect and trust of the people around me.

1994- RA 7836- Licensure exam was made mandatory

To gain the trust and respect of the society they have to see that we are quality teacher, we are
confident, enthusiastic of our job of our profession.

Once I become a teacher I will put my profession into heart and never stop learning.
