Content: Slope – Intercept Form

DISCUSSIONS:
The slope –intercept form of the equation of a line is

y = mx + b,

where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept.

The two-intercept form of the equation of a line is

Where a is the x-intercept or the abscissa of the coordinates of the point


in which the graph intersects the x-axis and b is the y-intercept or the
ordinate of the coordinates of the point in which the graph intersects the
y-axis.

Example. Find the equation of a line (in standard form) with x-intercept of
3 and y-intercept of 2.

Solution: Using the two-intercept form, we have
