1. Scope :
The scope includes Pre assembly, Erection and alignment of following major activities
in ACC at project site:

4. SHIFTING OF MATERIAL TO ERECTION AREA

(A)From store yard to erection site

4.1 Tyre mounted/crawler crane is placed in a safe position by considering of ground

level and its compactness.
4.2 Lifting tools and plants are analysed, load is compared and verified
against performance specification.
4.3 Weight of the load/material is determined as per drawing.
Centre of Gravity of the load/material is to be determined.
4.4 Slinging of load is to be followed by safe method done by skilled riggers.
4.5 Material has to be loaded to the higher capacity trailer with appropriate length
per material length & is locked enough with the trailer body for safe transportation
of the material to the required location.
4.6 After arrival at erection site the material shall be unloaded to the erection
position directly or shall be unloaded to safe area determining transfer route to the
lifting position at ground level.
(B)From Erection site unloading/pre assembly point to lifting point.
4.7 For shifting of material form unload/pre-assembled position to lifting position
following methods shall be adapted.

i) Shifting through suitable capacity crawler mounted/ pick & carry mobile crane.

5. ACTIVITIES AND PROCEDURES:

5.1 Anchor Plate: (A Pictorial representation is attached as Annexure)
Pre-assembly: Hook fixing for erection at ground level.
Specific safety measures:
1. Erection: Hard barricading at the top of column to be done. Till that time
Workers shall anchor their FBH on the bolts (below nut) while barricading is in
progress
2. Alignment: Workers shall anchor their FBH on hooks welded with the anchor
plate while carrying out alignment activities.

Erection:
 Lifting is to be done by 250MT/350 MT crawler crane at top of concrete
column (+55 m elevation).
 Anchor plate is to be fixed with anchor bolts provided at top of concrete.
Alignment:
 Necessary packings to be measured and inserted

5.2 UD TRUSS: (A Pictorial representation is attached as Annexure)

Pre-assembly:
 All assembly members are to be identified as per drawing and should be placed
at elevated/ plane surface/steel bed.
 Suitable crane/ hydra, sling rope, D-shackles to be used for pre-assembly after
verifying the weight of each member as per drawing.
Erection:
 Assembled structures is to be kept in position by using 100 MT/ 40 MT crane in
trailing with main lifting crane of capacity 250MT/350MT.
 Before lifting, safety net to be installed along the length of the truss. Also life
line to be fixed at the suitable location (Top level and bottom level).

 Experienced rigger gang should reach at erection location by scaffolding

staircase/ elevator/ man basket and safety belt should be anchored.
 The lifting arrangement by Crane has to be made ready, d-shackle, slings based
on the load calculation.
 UD truss will be lifted and same has to be placed at top of the anchor plate.
 Proper locking of truss member with anchor plate is to be ensured by welding
as per drawing.
 After placing the UD truss on Anchor Plates, it should be secured with required
no. of guy wires.
 IF applicable- Before release of crane, the UD truss is to be connected with its
adjacent trusses with bolting. During this activity, workers working at the top
of structure shall anchor their FBH in the life line connected at the top of UD
truss. After release of crane slings, they shall either come down to the concrete
column through monkey ladder by fastening with fall arrestor or proceed to
adjacent platform available at top of UD truss. Workers working at bottom
shall anchor their FBH to the hooks available at anchor plates. After completion
of work, they shall either come down through man-basket or they shall climb
up through monkey ladder by fastening with fall arrestor and proceed to the
adjacent platform available at top of UD truss.

General Safety measures:

 Hard barricading at top of concrete is to be done by using man
basket/scaffolding (if available).
 Safety belt should be anchored with foundation bolt insert plate.
 Ensure the weight of load to be lifted as per drawing.
 Ensure the Centre of Gravity of load and placement of crane& idle/guide
pulley with structure securing firm anchor support.
 Ensure capacity of crane used, lifting accessories like slings, etc., engaged for
tandem lifting.

 Ensure that lifting load should be within safe limit of total lifting capacity of
crane arrangement.
 Visual inspection of cranes and lifting accessories before putting in use for
ensuring healthiness of the same.
 Ensure fitting of all the safety devices in cranes like as hook lifting latch, hoist
limit switch, boom limiting switch, braking system, TPI certificate, rope
condition & application of lubricants etc.
 Ensure validity of documents of cranes and lifting accessories.
 Ensure proper functioning of all the safety devices fitted in cranes.
 Ensure cordoning off erection area by safe distance.
 Ensure use of tag line/guide rope with safe access in respect of entry & exit
points.
 Co-ordination between foremen/signal man/operators with single point
signalling system.
 Ensure that crew members should be experience enough.
 Ensure that nobody should be under suspended load and crane’s boom/rope
crossing area.
 Minimum persons should be engaged for lifting.
 After getting clearance from the signalman for lifting, all persons should
move away from lifting area.
 Tag line persons should handle the load by maintaining safe distance from the
lifting area.
 All persons should wear required PPEs.
 Work-package shall be in ready condition.
 Trained and experienced operator shall be engaged for operation of Cranes.
 Ensure the levelled ground where cranes shall be used.
 Provide warning systems such as cautionary safety signage.
 Use of all necessary PPE shall be ensured.
