SEHH 1109 Presentation

Presentation date:
Class 201 Week 9 and Week 10
This assignment is to fulfill the following ILOs:
(a) describe the basic structure and functions of the cell;
(b) explain the principle of genetics and inheritance;
(c) examine the structure and function of animals;
(d) explain the structure and function of plants;
(e) discuss the importance of evolution and biological diversity

You are going to design a lab session to facilitate the understanding of the general biology of a
group of secondary school students. You must choose to do a Group presentation based on the
ONE of the following topics.
1. Enzyme application in household. (To be presented in 1st week) (ILO (a))
2. Life examples of Mendelian Genetics and potential application in research (To be presented
in 1st week) (ILO (b))
3. Diversity of life- the relationship of human and other species (To be presented in 1st week)
(ILO(c), ILO(d) and ILO(e)) 
4. The use of trees. (To be presented in 2nd week) (ILO(d))
5. A prediction to future biological evolution of human (To be presented in 2nd week) (ILO(c),
ILO(e))

For the group presentation, you must include an introduction which provides a brief outline of
the topic discussed. For the content part, make sure you put sufficient effort to (i) describe the
basic principles of the topic; (ii) explain the related functions or structures of the subject/
discuss the principles of genetics/ evolution of biological diversity, if applicable; and (iii)
discuss the possible impact of the topic. Eventually, you should wrap up your presentation by
summing up the points and a statement of opinion.

General Reminder:
1. Form a group of 4-6 students.
2. Each group will have a 15-minute presentation and a 5-10 minute Q&A session. Each
presentation must not exceed the assigned timeslot, or marks will be deducted.
3. All presenters of the group must present during the scheduled time. Marks will be deducted
if anyone in the group has been late for 10 minutes or above.
4. Do remember to check the equipment out and set up for the presentation, you have the
responsibility to let all students to participate in the presentation session.
5. You must have a live presentation for your presentation.
6. Each member of the group must participate in preparing for and presenting the topic. Show
your work allocation clearly, so that the audience could identify each of the presenters. Make
sure you have to show your face at the beginning of the presentation. It is your group’s
responsibility to make sure the presentation run down is smooth.
7. Upload your softcopy of presentation, along with your work distribution sheet to moodle
ONE week before your presentation.
8. Though this is a group presentation, there will be variations of marks for each individual
