Students struggle to estimate the extent of Himalayas as they get confused between the location
and direction of the three different parallel ranges namely, Himadri, Himachal and Siwalik
which constitutes the vast structure of the Himalayas.
Impact:
Students will face difficulty in understanding the properties of the parallel ranges and often
interchange their location while discussing the extent of Himalayas.
Focus Spot:
Division of Northern Plains.
Why:
Students find it difficult to comprehend the divisions of northern plains as they get perplexed
between the riverine terms like ‘bhabar’, ‘terai’, ‘bhangar’ and ‘khaddar’.
Impact:
Students will face difficulty in understanding the different properties of the riverine soil and the
outline of river flow. Thus, they will have a hard time comprehending the extent and division of
the northern plains.
