Reflection Essay
During each essay, my rhetorical choices were trying to read each different part of the

essay, then trying to compare if I was a reader, then trying to fix all the detail that I thought was

wrong. Also, getting feedback from the professor on each draft of my essays helped me develop

and improve my paper every time. Through each draft, we do each student get feedback from the

professor, and we do a workshop in that in the class, we form groups with my classmates, and

each one reads the other essay and gives them feedback on whatever they think needs to work on

their writing. For example, in the first draft, most of the students get their main ideas on paper,

and after that, they start creating an essay, building their paragraphs, and developing more

information for their writing. When you write an essay, the first thing you have to do as a writer

is to think about your topic and the main point of the piece, so it can be easier to find information

and understand more about whatever you are writing. The second step after getting your main

ideas and everything down on paper you get feedback from the professor, and then you have to

build up your essay. Before turning in your final draft, you have two drafts so you can fix

whatever each feedback tells you to fix so it can get you a better grade and improve the essay. In

the end, you have the final draft after you have corrected everything, revised, and edit in your

report, plus some work that helps us to improve our essays.

Creating this website was a challenge because it is something new that I will have to do,

but we worked in class on building a website, which helped me a lot to start creating mine.

During the course, the professor went step by step through how to delete and add the thing to the

website and also explained the work that we have to prove to our portfolio so the scholars can

understand each student's improvement in class. One of the first things I had to do to create this

website was to gather information from the whole semester and place them in folders to start

designing each section of the essays. After collecting the data, I started fixing some works and

small things from my website; creating this portfolio helps me understand how everything I did

the whole semester has something in common with my other classes. Also, you realize that you

have improved some skills and work more on others to improve, but this helps you somehow.

After you create your website and gather the information, you must be creative when you make

your website so that people can understand your work on your portfolio. Starting this website

needs time because you have to be clever, organized, and intelligent whit your portfolio. For

example, adding everything, you must have something in your mind about how you want to

place your work in each section and how it will look at the end. In this portfolio, you have to add

the whole semester and summaries it with everything that helps you improve in each essay.

Each essay has different prompts and ways to be written; for this reason, on every draft,

we do various assignments that help us as writers to improve on each draft every time. Before an

essay, the professor explains the essay's prompt, and we start doing an assignment that goes

along with the paper's topic. Also, in each draft, we do more works that can help us clarify the

prompt of the essay we are writing on that period because we have the first, second, and final

drafts. Between each draft, the professor adds work that makes us develop more information to

our essay and have a complete article for our second draft. For example, we had daily

assignments that went along with the theme of the papers, which was daily before the class

started. Before the first essay, we did this assignment," Experiment Proposal." That was to find a
Sauceda3

topic for my first essay and what I was trying to write about for essay one. Then we had the

"Library Research Packet" this assignment helped us keep track of the days we had to turn in the

draft and reflection essay, the grading rubric for each draft, and specific details about penalties if

we didn't turn in a draft. Another assignment that we have after the second draft is "Working

with Peer Review" this assignment is about what other classmate tells you about your essay, and

you have to answer some question to help you improve more in your writing. There are more

assignments for this class that allow me to improve my skills every time on my essays since they

are created for each paper.

This semester in this class, I learned a lot of new things for my benefit, on this class every

time I went to class, it was something new that helped me as a writer to improve my papers.

During this class, the professor helped me a lot to clarify every time I was confused with the

topic or something else for the course. For example, this class was about writing essays, but we

chose our subjects, and whatever we decided to write about just, the paper had to connect with

the prompt and meet the requirements for the grading rubric. So, I decided to write about Student

Athletes; one of the reasons I chose to write about Student athletes is because I'm a Kinesiology

Major, and it can help me with many things. In my kinesiology classes for discussions, papers,

and many other things.

Another thing that I learned in this class was the way that we used the format, one of the

types of formatting was the MLA format for this class because, in other courses, they used

different types of forms. But now, if somebody asks me if I know how to use MLA format, I will

tell them that yes, since that was one of the first things, we learned in this class how to write in

MLA format, also this essay, we have to write it down in MLA format. Then we learned how to

find peer-reviewed articles in the library for our reports because we needed some sources for

each paper. Also, how to cite the source depends on composition, article, and books; there were

different ways to mention each of the citations.

In this class, everything we do can help us in our other courses since this class is a

writing class and some of the work, we do in this class is research that also helps us for different

periods. This course can apply to the rest of the courses because it's something that we, as

scholars, need to improve daily.

At the beginning of this class, my writing strength was getting my topic down for my

essays and gathering the correct information for my papers. But then, I struggled with staying on

the subject since I started explaining then; when I revised, sometimes I needed to be more in the

topic. During this class, every time I suppose to turn in a draft, I was getting better at not going

out of the subject. I started working on adding all my sources to my essays because sometimes I

needed to add all my references to the citation paper so it could make sense on the topic I was

writing. Some of my weaknesses in this class were gathering complete information and citing the

right way in each essay. I also made my thesis statement more evident in every paper to decide

which side I was going to and support it. Then connecting the paragraphs from the intro to the

conclusion was a little complicated for me; sometimes, because of all the essays. I wrote in this

class about Students Athletes, and I'm an Athlete, so I was trying to compare myself to the

articles; then, in each paragraph, I was trying to bring myself into the essays. Sometimes that was

the cause I was getting off-topic on the section because I was bringing myself into the papers,

and it was more complicated than just writing about some articles I researched about student-

athletes.

The most challenging aspect of creating this website was trying to figure out how the

website worked because I'm not used to doing something like this. Creating this website took
Sauceda5

work since there are so many different types of websites, and if you want to avoid paying, you

have to look for the free right one. During class, the professor explained which types of websites

were free and which we could use to do our portfolio and can look professional. For example,

when the professor explained everything about the portfolio and website, I needed clarification

because there was so much information about the same subject. Still, we had this assignment

done at the beginning of the class, so we talked about how to create a website on that assignment.

After those assignments and the professor explained everything in detail, I understood well what

I should work on for the website and portfolio. Then the minor challenge for this website was

gathering the information since everything is on the grades. You need to look for everything and

save it in a folder divided for each essay, so when for have to move it to the website should be

more accessible. For example, we have a list of the things that we have to add to the website;

what we have to do if we don't have it saved on the computer or folder, go to the grades and look

for it, then keep it again and you have it ready to present on the website. All this is just a

collection of all the work you have done the whole semester to show improvement during this

class and how helpful it was doing assignment help during each draft.

This essay has made me notice everything I have improved throughout the semester;

every Homework, Assignment and class work we did during the course. It helped me improve

my writing skills and weaknesses every time we turned in a draft. In this class, we work on

writing essays, so whenever the professor explains something new for a draft, I try to stay on the

same topic but on a different subject. Finding sources for my essays is more accessible, and the

information can match every final draft. From my first draft until the last draft, I significantly

improved in all the assignments and drafts. For example, in my first draft, I needed clarification

about what I should write about for my topic. I found something that I like searching about and
Sauceda6

discovering new information that can help me with my other classes and life as a student-athlete.

That subject caught my attention, and I decided to keep writing about student Athletes and their

development as they go through college. My first draft was " The Importance of Nutrient Intake

and Eating Patterns for Adolescent Athletes,'' this essay talks about how student-athletes perform

in and out of the field because of their eating disorders. And my last draft talks about "Student-

Athletes being Role Models," in this essay, I explain how the life of a student-athlete is in detail

and how other people think it is an absolute difference. Between these two essays was

completely different writing; I noticed in the feedback after the final drafts that I was improving

my writing. Since the first essay, I should fix many parts of the paper, and in the other article was

just a tiny thing that I needed to select to be more robust. After writing this essay, I have

significantly improved in many things for my benefit as a writer during this last semester. At the

end of this essay, I want to thank our professor for being a great instructor and helping us

improve our writing with the feedback we were getting on each draft and the advice she gave us

to improve each paper.
