SET 1: Neighborhood

Part 2:

T: Hi Nam, long time no see!. How are you today?

N: Hi, I'm pretty good. Thank you for asking me But you look exhausted, What wrong
with you?

T: Haizz I am feeling tired and sleepy because yesterday there was a wedding next
to my house. They sing and dance all night. I couldn't control my temper so I ran
straight out into the yard and said nasty things to them.

N: Haya, you shouldn't do that. You should know how to establish and maintain good
relationships with your neighbors.

T: Can you tell more for me?

N: Of course, It can be far more peaceful to live among neighbors that like and
respect each other, especially ( ì pét xô ly) when they’re living in close proximity(rọt-
xí-mơ-ti). Respectful neighbors are less likely to invade your space, be loud and
rowdy, and make overall daily life stressful. Good neighbors watch out for each other
and their property (róp-pơ-ty). If you are new in a place, you can always ask a
neighbour where to find something.

T: I think there are some reasonable ideas. But I also have my own opinion about
this issue.

N: Oh, please share it to me.

T: I suppose so, but I believe that it is not important anymore to have a good
relationship with one’s neighbors, especially in a city like Đa Nang city, because
nobody cares. In fact, a good neighbor is someone who you do not know even
exists. And I feel like in to – day’s society, it’s hard enough to find time for your
nearest and dearest, get alone catch up with your neighbor’s lives. On the rare
occasion, I do see them, it’s nomarlly a simple greeting, nothing more.

N: I get your point.

T: Sorry I have another call from my Mom.

N: Don't worry goodbye Trí

T: Bye Nam have a nice day.

2. City/ Country life:
T: Hi Nam! Long time no see. How are you today?
N: So boring because of social distancing ( đít-stơn-xing), so I can go out with
my friend just live at home, study online and sleep. Really boring
T: Me too, I can't do everything but Nam. And you and I can't go out to do our
homework together. So now i think we should start the exercise.
N: Of course. Let start
T: So first question is why many individuals in rural regions want to relocate to
cities, while city dwellers wish they could go to the countryside.
N: In my opinion, I teenagers prefer to live in the city because in the city, means
of transportation, to be able to meet the mobility (mồ bí lơ ti) needs of people, it
also means that the traffic as well as the means of transportation in the city will
also develop more.
T: And for me is the reason make young people choose city is job opportunity
and income. The job selection in the city is also diverse and more options for
you along with the income level is also much higher than in the countryside.
Anything else
N: Ah yes, the next reason is about the variety (vờ-rái-ơ-ti) of
accommodation(ờ-ka-mơ-tấy-sần) such as urban (ớ-pần) lofts (lót-f-t),
apartments, houses skyscrapers,…with someone is easy pass. Just make new
friends and hang out with different people. Another thing is that being close to
fire departments, police and hospitals can make city life safer.
T: So what do you think about opposit view “ While those living in urban
center wish they could move to the countryside”
N: For me, teenager like to live in city but older prefer live in the countryside.
Because of the environment. The air in the countryside is extremely fresh, the
water and food sources are not polluted.
T: That right! The second thing I think about people work together and look out
for one another, creating a greater sense of community. Living in the country
can make you stronger and more independent as a person.
N: Oh yes! They can walk down the street of a country town, and chances are
you'll see somebody you know.
T: I have recorded all the information we discussed just now. When I'm done
I'll send it to you so you can check it out.
N: OK! I'll waiting for you. Sorry I have another call from my Mom.
T: Don't worry goodbye Nam
N: Bye Trí have a nice day.
T: Hi Nam! Long time no see. How are you today?
N: So boring because of social distancing, so I can go out with my friend just live at home,
study online and sleep. Really boring.
T: Me too, I can't do everything but Nam. And you and I can't go out to do our homework
together. So now i think we should start the exercise.
N: Of course. Let’s go!
T: So, The first question is some people prefer to go on guided tours when they travel while
others prefer to travel individually. Which do you think is better?
N: I agree that it is the greatest way to travel as a group with a tour guide for several reasons.
A tour guide will let people know about the places they will visit and show the best places.
Tour guides are specially trained about the local history and significance (xịt-ní-phơ-can-x)of
all the places at the region (rí-chờn). Most of the time, people travelling alone don’t know the
places to visit and so waste a lot of time trying to find something valuable(vé-liu-ơ-bô) to see.
And, guided tours are the best way in terms (tơm-z) of sightseeing in a short time.
T: I get your point but I think Many tours are set up to show you as many places as possible
in the allotted time. While it might sound fun on paper to see seven cities in 10 days, the pace
of the tour might be too fast. Traveling too quickly can lead to exhaustion and travel burn-out
in a matter of days. Plus you can’t really soak up a city in a day or two, and there’s so much
you will miss by traveling at that speed.
N: I guess you have your opnion and I have mine. But I think Traveling in any form is fun as
long as we have the best preparation (pép-pơ-rây-xần) and safety (sấy-v-ti).
T: That’s right!
N: Oops , I have to go now. Thank you
T: Bye!
Set 4 part 2
T: Hi Nam! How are you today?
N: Pretty good! And you?
T: I'm okay? Sorry for bothering you. But I have an exercise I need to do. Can
you help me?
N: Of course. Let's start
T: The first question is do you see a change in the present moment as different
from a few years ago
N: For me I think is about the growth of social media. It can be said that today
social networks occupy(ót-kiu-pai) the majority (mờ-chớ-rơ-ti) of people's time
in a day
T: So do you think using social media brings anything positive or not?
N: Yes of course. It can be seen that in a time of epidemic(e-pí-đé-mịt-k) like
this, the influence of social networks becomes extremely (ịt-trí-m-li) important.
The first is people's means of communication. The second is the place to update
the fastest news for everyone. It is also a place for people to share their own
photos and statuses
T: Oh! I completely agree with your opinion but besides such a positive side,
what is the negative side it brings? Can you share it with me?
N: In addition to the positive sides, the negative side it brings is probably a lot
of fake news, your information will be leaked (lít-t) and finally there is bullying
(bú-li-ing) through social networks
T: That's all, thank you so much for your help
N: Don't mention it
T: Sorry, I have another class this time. So goodbye Nam. See you again
N: Bye Trí. Have a nice day
Set 5

T: Long time no see Nam. How are you today?

N: I’m doing really well. How about you?

T: Hmm… Not so well. Because of Covid19, all of us have been locked down for months.
Instead of going out and chill with each other, we just have to stay at home and have fun with
our smartphone, tablet or laptop, etc.

N: Oh, I agree with you. It’s quite boring. Uhm.. lately I’ve seen people on the forum talking
about the strengths and weaknesses of communication technology such as smartphones,
tablets, and other mobile devices evolving(ì-vó-ving) so fast and some people believe that the
disadvantages outweigh the advantages (ờ-ván-tịt-xịt). How do you think about that?

T: I think it’s true. The first disadvantage is their participation in outdoor activities might be
limited significantly. Students, for instance, have interests in playing various online game on
technological devices after finishing their classes instead of taking part in many different
sports. As a result, the ability of interaction of the younger in every single match is likely to
be minimised more and more. Futhermore, spending too much time on using modern
technologies such as computer and mobile phones may lead serious health problems.

N: I admit its weaknesses. But you also can’t deny its strength. New technologies play
intergral (ín-tơ-rô) roles in the young’s lives thanks to theirs outweighed benefits. Firstly, it is
undeniable (ân-đơ-nái-ơ-bô) that high-tech equipments act as effective communication tools
supporting for students in their studies. No matter where they are, for instance, they are able
to use their own mobile phones in order to enhance the English skills though online
applications. Secondly, modern (mó-đơn) equipment allows people to keep in touch with
their friends who are living overseas. Therefore inspite of being far away, they have
opportunities to talk with each other for hours and promote their relationship without paying
fees.

T: Oh I get your point. But I think we shouldn’t spend too much time on using
communication technology.

N: I hold the same opinion.

T: Oops I have to go now. See you next time.

N: Have a good day. See ya!

Set 6

A:Hey, next week is the year-end party at the company. Have you bought

clothes?

B:I haven't bought anything yet because I have a lot of work to do. I think Ill

buy it on online web.

A:But I find some disadvantages when shopping online that we can't see,

touch, feel it before buying it. Some products look very different from the

images taken on the site. Besides, we also have difficulty returning the

Droduct when it is defective or not your size.

B:Sounds good, but I still think online shopping is more convenient. When

shopping online, I can get all the things I need in a website. Moreover when

buying online I can compare prices and get many discount codes.

A:But there's only a few days left. The delivery takes too long, moreover,

shipping costs are too high. Do you want us to go shopping together this

weekend?

B:That sounds good. Let's go shopping together this Sunday.

A:Ok.See you soon.

Set 7

T: Hi Nam! Long time no see. How are you today?

N: So boring because of social distancing, so I can’t go out with my friend just live at home,
study online and sleep. Really boring.

T: Me too, I can do nothing but surfing facebook, playing game, do deadline.. that’s all. Ah
mention about facebook, I have just remember that there is a pretty interesting topic I want to
discuss with you. Do you have time to discuss with me?

N: Oh I’m very pleasant. What’s that?

T: People on the forum are holding on a poll on Which is more important: highschool friends
or college friends? Now let me see your point.

N: If I have to choose one, I think I would prefer high school friend. Because at that time, we
make friends without any condition or selfishness. Being a child, one is innocent (ín-nơ-xân-
t) and thus, one is able to find friends according to one’s liking and disliking. However, in
adulthood (á-đô-hood), there are several factors that are responsible(rì-xpón-xơ-bờ) to choose
someone as friend, for example, appearance, status, wealth… Do you think like me?

T: I afraid I can’t agree with you. In college, you’re living with your friends on campus, or in
a roomie apartment nearby for colleges, this mean that your college friends quickly become
your new family. College friends are there for you when you’re dealing with all kinds of
problems — whether they’re related to your studies or not.. It is essential for people to have
friendship at the college because if you are being treated as a good friend, you can work
better being surrounded by a positive environment.

N: I won’t deny your point of view but I think you have your opinion and I have mine.
However, in anyway, making friend no matter in highschool or college is very important and
necessary.

T: That’s exactly what I think.

N: It’s quiet interesting to talk with you. I have to go now. See you later.

T: I’m glad you like it. See ya!

Set 8
T: Hi Nam, long time no see , how are you going ?
N: Oh hi , I'm pretty good. Thank you for asking me But you look exhausted , what wrong
with you?
T: Haiya , just about my naughty students , they relied on computer for research and to do
their homework. I said it was not good for them but they claimed that gadgets can help them
more than what I can do.
N: Can you tell more for me?
T: Of course, they proposed that the role of teachers in class started to fade because computer
have been helping some students to progress in their studies quicker compared to learning in
an original classroom. For example, in the same classroom, students have different
intellectual capacities, therefore, some would be tied to a slow advance in their studies
because of others' incapability of understanding. In this way, pupils could progress in their
acquirement of knowledge at their own pace using computers instead of learning from
teachers. How do think about that ?
N: I think there are some reasonable ideas. But I also have my own opinion about this issue(í-
x-siu).
T: Oh, please share it to me.
N: Okay, in my opinion, the presence(ré-xen-s) of the teacher is essential(ờ-sén-chô) for
students because the human contact influences them in positive ways. Students realize(rí-ơ-
lai-z) that they are not dealing with a machine but with a human being who deserves attention
and respect. They also learn the importance of studying in a group and respect for other
students, which helps them improve their social skills. The teacher acknowledge some
students' weakness and help them to solve their problems by repeating the same
explanation(ét-xlơ-nấy-xành), giving extra exercises or even suggesting a private(pái-vợt)
tutor. Hence, students can have a better chance of avoiding a failure(phấy-li-ơ) in a subject.
T: Yes, I agree with you . Technology can make it easy to get educated by sitting at home but
that education too is provided by a teacher. Even in online courses, we see that teachers are
necessary to give lectures, whether in the form of videos, tutorials, Skype sessions, etc.
N: Oops , I have to go now if I don't want to miss my class . Thank you , you are the savior of
my mood.
T: You're welcome.
Set 9
T: Hi Nam! How are you today?
N: Pretty good! And you?
T: I'm okay? Sorry for bothering you. I have an excise and I have to submit it next week. I
want to hear your point of view about it.
N: I’m very pleased to help you. What about the topic?
T: The topic is about “Should student have a part-time jobs while they are studying?” Now
let me see your idea.
N: Nowadays, students love to have part-time jobs. However, having a job is a big
responsibility for a student by working their routine as students will be disturb(đì-xtrơ). They
have a lot of homework to do rather than working outside. In addition of school homework,
there is tuition(tu-í-xần) they have to attend especially the examination(ịt-xam-mơ-nấy-xần)
candidates(cán-đi-đợt-x). By working, they are most likely to skip their classes if their shifts
overlap their schedules(ké-chiu-ô-x). Some of them will work till late at night and neglect(ni-
gơ-lét-t) their studies as well. So I don’t encourage students to have part-time jobs while they
are studying.
T: I get your point but I think that they should take a part-time job while studying. Because
working part-time while studying is the fact that money will not be the only thing which you
will gain through working. It is also the great opportunities which you can attain with first-
hand experience in the marketplace, that can help you prepare for the real working world.
Moreover, when student have to work to earn money for themselves, they will sure find how
difficult it is. It’s a chance for them to grow up in their thought and their action to adapt to the
world of adult and business.

N: I get your point. The strengths and weaknesses of this problem are undeniable(ấn-đi-nái-ơ-
bô), the significant(xịt-ní-fi-ken-t) thing is student arrange (ờ-ren-ch) a reasonable time,
everything will be fine.
T: Absolutely! Thanks for giving me many benefit idea.
N: You’re welcome. See ya.
Set 10
T: Hi Nam, Long time no see! How are you today?
N: Oh hi, I'm pretty good. Thank you for asking me. What are you doing?
T: I'm searching the internet for a freelance job. What do you think?
N: Hmm, In my opinion Flexible(lét-xơ-bô) Hours is the main reason why more and
more people want to become a freelancer is that they can work whenever they want.
They get to choose their own hours. If they want to sleep in until noon, they can do
that. If they want to take the weekend off so they can explore the city, by all means,
go for it.
T: Oh yes, the next reason is As a freelancer, they can work during their most
productive hours, and those hours don’t have to fall in during regular business hours.
Besides, They are the Boss, they no longer have to answer to anyone but their clients
and themself. They have all the control.
N: I get your point but The only disadvantage is Not Steady(xé-đi) and Reliable
Workload. Unfortunately(ân-phó-chơ-nợt-li), being a freelancer means that income
and workload are unstable and inconsistent.
T: Of course. For the most part, you won't be able to depend on any regular projects,
clients, or profits, while you'll know exactly how much you'll get at a traditional job.
N: That’s right!
T: I’m grateful to receive your comments.
N: No worry!
