MATERIALS:

DC Regulated power supply 1pc Breadboard 1pc

SPDT Switches 2pcs Jumper Cables 1set

LED (Green, Red) 2pcs

330-Ohm Resistors 2pcs

Connecting Wires 1set

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Connect the electrical circuit as shown in figure 2.2.
2. Switch ON the power supply and set it at 5 V.
3. Close switch Sl and open switch S2 to observe the LEDs status. Note down in Table 1.
4. Open the switch Sl and close the switch, observe the LEDs status. Note down in Table 1.
5. Close the switches S1 and S2, and observe the LED’s status. Note down in Table 1.
6. Open the switch Sl and S2, and observe the LED’s status. Note down in Table.

CONCLUSION:
Performing Activity 3 allowed us to apply our knowledge regarding the full duplex
communication link and compare the results of each condition stated in the activity. We're able to
compare the differences when switches were given certain conditions and how the LEDs act in
accordance with the switching. The results of the activity showed us how the said communication link
works. Half-duplex communication links would only allow one-way communication. In this activity,
there is no way to turn both LEDs at the same time. It’s like each LED has their designated switch to
turn them ON, and having one ON hinders the other one to turn ON, too. The second part of the
activity showed us how full-duplex communication links work. Through this activity, we can definitely
conclude that full-duplex can work simultaneously as when both switches’ states were on, both LEDs,
which represent the presence of communication, are ON as well. Unlike the half-duplex model, this one
allowed both LEDs to turn on.
With this activity, one can have a better understanding of how the two communication links
work. One won’t allow information to be sent at the same time, the other is capable of letting things
through at the same time.
