SCRIPT FOR VARIETY SHOW

December 15, 2022

5:30 – 7:00 PM

(Introduction)

Josh: Greetings everyone! I am Josh Danyelle R. Revaño and my co-host is Ms. Chinnie

Apuya, and we are your emcees/hosts for today’s program. We warmly welcome you all to today’s

function with a heart full of love. We are really honored to have our beloved English professor none

other than, Professor Yasmin E. Andaloc, respected guests, also my fellow classmates, and students

under the Philippine Literature subject of ma’am Yasmin. I and my co-host are very glad to welcome

you all to our today’s talent show where students of 2 different classes will perform on the stage and

will be rewarded.

Chinie: We are really thankful to our ever gorgeous English professor, ma’am Yasmin that

participated in our function. Without her, this would all be meaningless. Tonight you all will witness

great performances from students in Speech and Theatre Arts and Philippine Literature subject. So stay

tuned and cooperate with us till the end of the event.

(Invocation)

Chinie: To start with, may we request everyone to stand for the invocation to be led by Ms.

Melody Leonar.

(National Anthem)

Josh: Please remain standing for the singing of our national anthem.
Chinie: Please be seated. To formally open the program, iIt will now be the turn of Ms.

Marsheil Francesca Y. Surban to come onto the stage for her opening remarks. Around of applause for

her, please!

Josh: Thank you very much for that wonderful speech, Ms. Marsheil!

Josh: Moving forward, allow me to introduce to you the fantastic English professor that we

have with us today who will be giving her commentaries on the participants’ performances.

Chinie: We have with us here today is Mrs. Yasmin E. Andaloc, who finished her Bachelor of

Arts major in English at Mindanao State University–Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), she also

took up her second course, Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Special Education in Iligan

Medical Center College (IMCC), and finished her masters in Educational Management here in Iligan

Medical Center College (IMCC). She’s also been connected with IMCC for 20 years and is also a former

Ms. Iligan (Chariiiis).

Josh: Undoubtedly we have talented students at every year level of our school. Tonight in

this talent show hunt they are going to show their talents right in front of you. From dancing to drama,

song, and speech, to sports activities, and many more. Without taking your precious time let us initially

invite the performers on the stage. Obviously, to praise them, we need a thunder of claps in every

action, so, please put your hands together for our performers of the night.

Chinie: The students under Philippine Literature are most likely required to perform Spoken

Poetry and Declamation. Spoken word poetry, or performance poetry, is an art form that transforms

poetry readings into theatrical events. Much like live theatre, it has the sole purpose of being

performed on a stage in front of an audience.

Josh: Declamation, on the other hand, is a public speaking event where students deliver a

portion or portions of a speech previously delivered. The goal of declamation is to convey a message

with clarity, emotion, and persuasiveness. The speech the student delivers can be any publicly

delivered speech.

(Introduction of the first performer – Spoken Poetry by Kristhel)

Chinie: For our first contender, let’s give a big round of applause for Ms. Kristhel Jane Bation!

Her piece is entitled: “God Almost Allowed.”

Josh: Wow! Such incredible talent we have here at IMCC. Words fail to describe their

performances.

Chinie: I agree with that partner, they are not only good in the classroom but also on stage.

(Introduction of the second performer – Duet by Junjie and Kate)

Josh: Our second contenders are both 2nd-year students of our beloved school. In class,

they might be seen as a cat and a dog since she really loves to make fun of him. On the other hand, he

is somehow having a hard time getting his revenge against her. But right now, these two made a pact

and will be performing together here on stage. Please help me welcome, Mr. Junjie Alvarado and Ms.

Kate Surban, they will be singing “Way back into love.” Around of applause for them, please!

Chinie: Wow that was indeed a great performance from our first and second performers.

Correct me if I’m wrong partner, but they just proved to us that they are not just made of beautiful and

handsome faces but they are talented as well.

Josh: This performance was mind-blowing. Even I don’t have a word to express how they

performed and it was just amazing. Wasn’t it?

(Introduction of the third performers – Dance Number by Phiel, Waffah and Genevieve)

Chinie: Now, to bring you to the next level of excitement, hold your breath for a dance

performance by Mr. Phiel Belotindos, Ms. Waffah Walid, and Ms. Genevieve Herrera which perhaps is

one of the best performances you will see this evening. Put your hands together for this trio, please!

Josh: Yes you’re right, partner. They have such a talent for this kind of thing! I wish I could

dance like that! I didn’t even know it was humanly possible to get into some of those positions.

Chinie: Yes, it was an outstanding performance! They’ve made our afternoon/night.

(Introduction of the fourth performer – Spoken Poetry by Kia)

Josh: Up next is a performance by Ms. Kia Samantha P. Mora, from the 3 rd-year level with

her piece entitled: “I am a Filipino.” Around of applause for her, please!

Chinie: Stage has been set on fire, isn’t it guys? Back-to-back outstanding performances what

else do we need?

(Introduction of the fifth performer – Comical Skit)

Josh: Next up is none other than my co-host, Ms. Chinie Apuya herself. She will be

performing a Comical Skit with her company, and of course, I’m also part of this skit. So, before

anything else, allow me to tell you a short description of what is a skit. A skit is a funny or informative

short play. It's usually more fun to perform a skit about an alien invasion than a skit about workplace
safety. You might watch a skit about bullying at school, and the local theatre troupe may perform skits

in the park for kids. Around of applause, please!

Josh: Oh wow! That was totally nerve-wracking, partner! I’m not really good with stage

plays or something but I sure had fun with that one.

Chinie: I agree with that partner! I was really nervous at first but when I got the hang of it, I

was able to enjoy our skit. Do you know what I mean?

Josh: Yes, I got your point partner!

(Introduction of the sixth performer – Declamation by Nailah)

Josh: And now, please help me welcome Ms. Nailah H. Alimama for her Declamation which

is entitled “I killed her.” Around of applause for her, please!

Chinie: Wow! What a very nice piece Ms. Nailah have! It was actually nice and at the same

time a sad story.

Josh: You’re right, partner! For me, only God has the right to get the life of people because

He’s the one who created us. We should wait for the right time. If it’s for us, it’s really for us.

(Introduction of the seventh performer – Cultural Dance by Melody and Mikee)

Chinie: For our seventh performer, they will be performing a cultural dance which is a special

type of dance that is shared by a community. It can have specific uses and meanings. These include

rituals, ceremonies like marriage and birth, paying respect to ancestors, or simply for enjoyment! Give

it up for Ms. Melody Leonar and Ms. Mikee Monteroso! Around of applause for them, please!
Josh: Oh wow! Such wonderful talents we have here at IMCC. Need I say anything else?

Thanks for the wonderful performance, Ms. Melody and Ms. Mikee!

(Introduction of the eighth and last performers – Interpretive Song by Rahma and Vlessie)

Chinie: Moving further, our eighth and last performers of the night will be performing an

Interpretive Song entitled “A Million Dreams.” Let’s give it up for Ms. Rahma Saripada and Ms. Vlessie

Mae Elim! Around of applause for them, please!

Josh: Thank you Ms. Rahma and Ms. Vlessie for this delightful performance!

Chinie: That marks the end of the performances tonight! My heart is racing because now it’s

time for the results!

Josh: We have such super-talented students among all of the students who have

participated in this event to show their talents and this program is specially arranged for them.

Chinie: We congratulate everyone for a job well done! For exerting all your efforts on making

this short even become entertaining and successful.

(Closing remarks by Prof. Yasmin E. Andaloc)

Josh: Ladies and gentlemen! We have come now to the end of this Variety Show. I am

certain that everyone is satisfied with the performances showcased by our fellow classmates and

schoolmates. At this juncture, to deliver the closing remarks, we are pleased to have, Professor Yasmin

E. Andaloc, our beloved Speech and Theatre Play, and Philippine Literature subject teacher. Let’s give

her a round of applause, please!

Chinie: Thank you so much for that wonderful speech, ma’am Yasmin! And thank you so

much for everyone who participated in this event, without you guys, this Variety Show wouldn’t be as

successful it would be and we won’t be as happy as we are with our performances tonight!

(Formal Closing Remarks of hosts)

Josh: It's been a pleasure being with all of you tonight, thank you. Thank you all for your

patience, I wish you all a very good evening. Once again, I am your host for tonight’s event, Josh

Danyelle R. Revaño!

Chinie: And I am Chinie Apuya! It's been an honor to be among such accomplished

individuals and to be able to present my perspective before you all, thank you, and good evening!
