Capstone Update #2

What have you accomplished so far on your Capstone project? If nothing, why?

This week I got done what I wanted to get done. I asked my friends what I should make the second
character because I didn’t like any of the ideas that I had once I started drawing them. But I found a
design I really like. I also got my storyboard started, it’s really messy and not quite finished but it’s a
start, and I can understand what it’s telling me.

What do you plan to accomplish by the end of this week? How will you hold yourself accountable?

I want to start animating this week. I don’t exactly know how I’m going to go about doing that, but my
plan is to trial and error it until I find what works. I have no idea how to use animate, I’ve tried it out
once in the past and I did not understand it so I might have to look up a tutorial like how I learned how
to use illustrator last year in graphic design.

Your needs, including time, space, materials, and personal contacts

What I need right now is knowledge of how to use my technology. I need to learn how to use the
program I’m using for this project.

What your interactions with your mentor(s) have been so far. If nothing, why? What is your plan?

I haven’t contacted a mentor so far. I don’t know if I need to. I am going to the CapU open house this
weekend and I can talk to the teachers of the animation program there for advice on the project, but I
don’t know if I will keep in contact with them after that. I’ve been fine on my own so far, but I also
haven’t started the process of animating yet and maybe that will change.

Any obstacles you anticipate and your plan to overcome them

Am issue I see coming is how I’m going to draw in animate. When I’ve tried it in the past, I wasn’t doing
frame by frame animation I was trying the rigs they have. I don’t know if its different in frame by frame
but the drawing tools they had in when I was in there weren’t very good and very hard to use. I might
import my drawings from photoshop as a png and just use animate to format the images into an
animation. Like the whole process of learning animate, I’m just going to trial and error it until I figure it
out.
