I administered the Rhody Secondary Reading Attitude Assessment to Jaikai (JJ)

Duncan on October 19, 2022. The goal of administering this assessment to the student
was to find out his feelings and overall attitude towards reading prior to implementing the
case study. Overall, JJ seems to be neutral, but falls more to the side of disliking reading
overall. The majority of his answers on the Rhody fell under the 2 (disagree) category.
Out of all of his answers, 11/25 were 2’s (disagree), which included questions such as
“You feel you have better things to do than read”, “You like to read a book whenever you
have free time”, “You love to read”, etc. Although he answered many questions with the
“disagree” answer, some of his answers included 1’s (strongly disagree) to statements
such as “You think reading is boring”, “You think reading is a waste of time”, and “You
hate reading”. This leads me to a conclusion that JJ possibly only dislikes reading
because it is one of his weakest subjects, not because he dislikes the overall subject and
act of reading.
