PRE-DEPLOYMENT ORIENTATION: REFLECTIVE ESSAY

On August 10, we conducted a pre-deployment orientation for our upcoming internship

program which is included in our curriculum. During the orientation, I have learned many useful
things and tips that I might use for my actual internship like the proper preparation which to
start off on the right foot to make fewer mistakes and waste less time on our journey ahead of
employment. Also, I learned during the orientation that it is a must to learn, and this is the right
time for us to accumulate new skills, gain a real-world perspective and develop specific areas of
expertise for us to be ready for the new journey ahead of us. The orientation also gave me a
heads up on do’s and don’ts once we formally start our internship like the proper attire for boys
and girls, the importance of time, being polite to our seniors and being approachable all the
time. This Internship is very crucial yet important for our development and improvement as a
student holistically for it boosts our confidence and it get to introduce us to the real life as an
employee and it is the perfect opportunity for us to apply what we learned on our academic
years. After the orientation last august 10 2022, I realized that I am wasting my time because it
was discussed there that we should not be wasting our time and we should be looking for
potential companies by now and fixing our resume/curriculum vitae. Also, after the orientation,
I remembered that it was tackled that we should only apply to any accounting. Auditing, or tax
firm which is related to our program since it will not only provide us the experience we need as
an intern but also, they have the expertise that we need in order to learn on the field that we
aspire to be after we graduate. We shouldn’t be looking for a company that is not accounting,
auditing or tax firm for it will not completely give us the experience and knowledge that we
want. Also I reviewed the necessary reminders that was discussed on the orientation because I
believe that a vision without action is a dream without ambition, I realized that I have to apply
what I’ve learned during the orientation for me to become a better Intern and to inculcate
knowledge that I need for the long run.
Overall, I realized that experience is a gem that a single person must have in order to survive
the life of being a employee. Also ,I learned that we should always find a way to invest to
ourself especially to our knowledge for it will be a weapon that we need, a tool that we need to
be the best on our fields. People will always rely on our resume, so by now as an intern, we
should always strive and do our best to gain knowledge, we shouldn’t be setting for less, we
should not be happy if our job as in intern was like a job of a clerk, we should not be happy if
our task as an intern is stapling papers and buying coffee for our bosses. We should always be
hungry for tasks that is solely related to the field that we are studying, because that is what the
purpose of an internship.
