Report on activities during the pilot study conducted at Neuro psychiatric hospital, Oda Road

The research team were at the hospital at about 9am on Monday 27th July, 2022. The first point
of call was the admin department where we introduced ourselves and the purpose of our visit.
We were taken to the hospital secretary who directed us to the chief medical director.
We introduced ourselves, telling him the purpose of our visit. He welcomed us and gave
recommendations and says he would love to be a part of the study when it is concluded. He
handed us over to Mrs. Amuda who works as one of the clinical psychologists to make the work
easy.
Mrs. Amuda introduced us to the head of the counselling department and asked for permission to
take us round in order to help us locate our subject. She seeks the indulgence of people who
would love to participate in the study from among the clients in the hospital and one came
forward.
The interview was done concurrently. One person was interviewing the parent of the health
worker at the hospital restaurant while another person was interviewing the health worker in her
office. The interview for the health worker lasted 42 minutes while that of the parent of drug user
lasted 36 minutes. We sat down together after to interview parent of the non-user, this lasted for
31 minutes.
we returned to the chief medical officer at about 2pm to appreciate him for the reception and the
acceptance. The team left the hospital at exactly 2:15pm.

It was observed that those interviewed were eager to respond to questions properly and seek for
clarification when they di not understand the question
