America as the land of opportunity

Part A: Presentation of US as a land of opportunity

America is one of the leading countries in global innovations and employment

opportunities around the world. There have been millions of immigrants who have left their

homes to find out if they could change their lives in America or get an opportunity to succeed.

The vast part of success is defined by getting a job and getting something out of it (Sevincer,

Varnum & Kitayama, 2019). America has greatly focused on delivering equal opportunities to

those seeking them rather than focusing on equal results. America has developed a philosophy

where they provide everyone with a fair chance where they can develop their talents which has

provided great opportunities to many. This distinguishes America from Europe since socialism

has never been seen in any form in American society. America remains to be the land of

opportunities for residents and people across the globe.

Part B: presentation of the US today

According to Sevincer, Varnum & Kitayama, (2019)America today remains to be the

land of opportunity as many people have moved from their countries to seek opportunities in the

United States. Many immigrants into the United States have settled and ultimately prospered.

With the great numbers of immigrants, America has reached its ultimate success and the position

it holds globally (Adler, 2021). Figures show that over the past years to date, many people have

worked in the United States and ultimately helped people back in their home countries.

Social issues in American society today

Currently, multiple social issues affect the status of America as the land of opportunities.

One issue is that of racism which has been rampant over the past years. This has made many

people who seek to build their lives in the United States fear. According to Sevincer, Varnum &
3

Kitayama, (2019), The root of racism even in figures in authority has affected the growth of the

country by far. According to Adler, (2021)Another social issue is the status of the healthcare

system which has fallen in the past. This affects the confidence of the American people.

It is therefore evident that despite the issues in the United States, it remains to be the land

of opportunity. There have been many people who have migrated to the United States and their

lives have ultimately changed. Despite the social issues such as racism and lack of a strong

healthcare system that has brought a halt to the economic growth but their effect is ultimately

low.
