Strategies A DNP-Prepared Leader Can Use to Disseminate Knowledge at Different Levels

Dissemination of knowledge by DNP prepared nurses is the spread of the evidence-based

knowledge and data, research, the findings of the research and any other relevant information to

other professionals in the workplace. The strategy is a crucial step in the nursing profession as

where the nurses stay up to the standard of the new evidence in nursing, they can help other

people in the field and this leads to high-quality healthcare provision. The dissemination can

occur across a variety of channels, social contexts as well as open settings. Therefore, a DNP

prepared nurse should be able to use a strategic approach to disseminate the information to other

colleagues in the micro, meso and macro systems.

The nurse should ensure that before the dissemination of the evidence in nursing, the

information is quality and it achieves the goals (AHRQ, 2012). The data or information being

shared should be meticulously evaluated and thoroughly analyzed to ensure that it is valid and it

can bring effectiveness in the nursing field (Titler, 2018). The evidence or knowledge should aim

at increasing knowledge in the nursing field.

The communication of uncertainty is another strategic goal that is crucial in the sharing

of knowledge with colleagues (Titler, 2018). Through the optimization of the presentation of

uncertainty, the DNP-prepared leader should focus on this strategy to ensure the other colleagues

makes best-informed decisions (AHRQ, 2012). Through the clearing of uncertain things, it will

be possible for the nurses to share, get corrected and thus growing the overall information

evidence-based nursing.

Tailoring the message is another approach which is aimed at assessing the individual

features to present individualized knowledge. The message is then given to the target audience

through the use of appropriate channels (AHRQ, 2012). This can be done through the use of a

computerized database, electronic algorithms, and incorporation of recognizable aspects that the

targeted audience will be able to fathom easily.

Another approach is the targeting of the message where the nurse should develop an

intervention approach for the specific population subgroup to ensure the message is maximally

effective for the specific target group (Titler, 2018). This can be done through the manipulation

of the language, music, visuals or the behavior which makes the message more appealing to the

targeted group.

For the microsystem, the DNP leader should use narratives pieces that aim at elaborating

to the group where the characters, as well as the situation, are used as the model for emulation as

well as learning (AHRQ, 2012). This can be done through the use of anecdotes, individual

experiences or testimonials or through the use of entertainment-education.

To disseminate the knowledge to all the parties in the micro, meso and macro levels, the

nurse should be able to ensure that the information is of high quality, has a high case of

applicability (AHRQ, 2012). The nurse should then target the colleagues whom they intend to

share their knowledge with and then chose the appropriate platforms to disseminate the

knowledge (Titler, 2018). This could be through the use of social media, brochures, conferences,

press releases, journals, or meetings with the other nurses (AHRQ, 2012). For instance, in the

case of nurses in the hospital cardiac department that is engaged in weekly meetings, they can

schedule some time during the sessions to discuss and talk about the latest updates and

developments of evidence in nursing.

The combination of these strategies is more effective in the dissemination of knowledge

compared to the use of a single strategy. This helps since there is the use of a multicomponent

approach which employ a variety of techniques which is done in concurrent combination. The

strategy helps in the increment of comprehension as well as an understanding of the evidence in

nursing.
