What is Global Warming?

Global warming is the gradual increase in the temperature near the earth’s

surface. This has been observed over the past one or two centuries. This change

has disturbed the climatic pattern of the earth. However, the concept of global

warming is quite at issue but the scientists have provided relevant data in support

of the fact that the temperature of the earth is rising constantly.

There are several causes of global warming, which have a negative effect

on humans, plants and animals. These causes may be natural or might be

the outcome of human activities. In order to end the issues, it is very

important to understand the negative impacts of global warming.

Climate change refers to long time shifts in temperatures and weathers. These

shifts may be natural, but since the 1800s, human activities have been the main

driver of climate change, firstly due to the burning of fossil fuels, which

produces gases that trap heat.

The top causes of climate change are:

● Overfishing

● Oil Drilling

● Farming

● Waste

● Transport and vehicles

● Oil and Gas

● Power Plants

● Deforestation

● Urbanization

● Consumerism
What are greenhouse gases?

A greenhouse gas is called that because it absorbs infrared radiation from

the Sun in the form of heat, which is circulated in the atmosphere and

eventually lost to space. Greenhouse gases also increase the rate at which

the atmosphere can absorb shortwave radiation from the Sun, but this has a

much weaker effect on global temperatures.

The CO2 released from the burning of fossil fuels is collecting as an

insulating blanket around the Earth, trapping more of the Sun’s heat

in our atmosphere. Actions carried out by humans are called

anthropogenic actions; the anthropogenic release of CO2

contributes to the current enhanced greenhouse effect.

Humans are increasingly influencing the climate and the earth's temperature

by burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock. This adds

enormous amounts of greenhouse gases to those naturally occurring in the

atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect and global warming.

Renewable Energy

Renewable energy sources include solar energy, geothermal, wind

turbines, ocean wave and tidal energy, waste and biomass energy, and

hydropower. Because they do not burn fossil fuels, these renewable

energy sources do not release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere as

they generate electricity.
