I. OBJECTIVES

make connection to a certain things , other text types serve as means of
enhancing the self; also how to use processing, assessing, summarizing
information, word derivation and formation strategies, being related to a
happy life or defective pen of being related to a failing relationship.
B. Performance Standards The learner actively participates in the activity through critical thinking using
effective strategies base on building connection to effectively describe or make
a point about something.

Examples/Instances of Directions: Identify the type of analogy used in the examples below;
the Lesson Choose the answer from the pool of options and write the letter in the

Here are examples of analogy used to describe or make a point. Observe
how the subject is being compared to a different thing. Try to identify what the
subject is being compared to , and determine the similarities between the two.
1. Education is the key to success .
2. The health workers are as busy as bees .
3. Ana was mistreated by her stepmother. She is, indeed, a Cinderella.

D. Discussing New An analogy is a comparison between two things. It is used to describe or
Concepts and make a point about something by examining its similarities with another thing.
Practicing New Skills The two things being compared maybe very dissimilar but the analogy forces
#2 the reader or the listener to understand the connection between them.
Some of the common literary devices can be used as an examples of
analogy. These include simile , metaphor , and allegory.
Types of analogy
As the definition of analogy includes all types of comparisons, the
following list of literary devices all qualify as analogies .
SIMILE- It is a comparison of two things that are essentially different, using
the words like or as. Examples;
1.My mother is sweet like sugar.
2.She is as busy as a bee.
3.Her children are like diamonds.
METAPHOR- It is a comparison that describes a person or using words that are
not meant literally. Examples;
1.Her children are her treasures.
2.Books are his vacation.
3.Grandmother’s lap is a soft pillow.
ANALOGY- It is an expression by which the characters and events are symbols
that stand for ideas about human life or for political or historical situation.
Example; My intelligent classmate is the Einstein of the class.
