You are on page 1of 3

Dear (name of organization) officer (NAME),

I wish you a good day. My name is Umut Arda Erce. 18 years old. After graduating from İçel
Anatolian High School, the best high school in my city, I am a student with a good level of English
studying at the Department of Mathematics at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, one of the
top 3 universities in Turkey. At the same time, I teach Mathematics and Physics in various private
teaching institutions in the city I live in and give private lessons in these fields. I am writing you this
motivation letter to apply for the Erasmus project you have organized.

Previously, I have been an organizer, manager, participant and volunteer in many national and
international organizations. (I shared photos of a few on the last page.) As an example, the subject of
one of the Model United Nations1 projects, an international youth project that I participated in 10
times as a manager, delegate and coordinator, was the subject of your project (project subject).
After producing solutions for this problem, we prepared a detailed solution report and sent it to the
United Nations. This experience gave me the opportunity to think about the subject of your project
and to come up with a solution. In addition, these MUN projects I participated in gave me the
opportunity to manage a hall full of people, to lead, to produce solutions, to discuss, to learn to
prepare reports regularly enough to convey my thoughts to a serious institution like the UN, and to
learn to speak English in an official language.

I also organized the same volunteer TEDxyouth 2 at my high school. The long e-mails I had with Tedx
managers to get a TEDx license taught me patience. Arranging places, speakers, etc. for my team to
do TEDx taught me skills such as organizational ability, team management, and dealing with
unexpected problems.

Occasionally, I took care of orphan children by participating in projects with my high school school.
For some reason, I collected garbage in nature to clean the environment with the associations I am a
member of. From all of these projects, I learned skills such as teamwork, taking responsibility, team
management, stress control, and making people listen to me.

For me, volunteering represents a win-win situation where I learn to deal with problems by both
contributing to my environment and improving myself. I am glad that I can contribute something to
my environment by completing spiritual assignments. Apart from that, it is a fact that volunteering
activities are often more fun and socializing than working in a normal job. Especially in Erasmus
projects. I have seen both my peers and older young people who can add new things to me in
projects such as (project names) that you (organization name) have organized before.

I chose this project among the many projects in the database, since this project seemed to be the
most interesting one among the projects I found in the database and would add new things to me.
Because the subject, location and country of the project was the most suitable combination for me.
(The subject of the project) is a subject that I've watched documentaries about before and I've done
a lot of research. I want to study and learn more about this topic. In my opinion, the place (space)
where the project will take place is the most ideal working environment for a person. I had the

opportunity to be in similar work environments before, and I discovered that the place where I work
most productively and where I am most peaceful (project place) is places like this.

Apart from that, (name of country) was a country that I always wondered about itself and its
culture. I heard from people who have participated in Erasmus projects before that the projects
there are quite good. That's why I chose this country. I am especially curious about (a special place in
the city) (in the city we are visiting) and also about (the food) famous dishes of (the country). Apart
from that, I quite like the aesthetics and architecture of the buildings in (country). I want to examine
the structures, sculptures, places of worship such as (name of place of worship) in the place I'm
going to, take their photos and compare them with the aesthetics of my country.

I am a hardworking person who takes care to do the job given to me completely and not to rest
before completing a job. You can be sure that I will use the competence that I have gained in a
considerable amount of project and volunteer work since high school, so that your project will reach
its goal without any problems. Especially in the MUN project, where I am the manager, I had the
opportunity to work and research with a hall full of people for days on the subject of the project.
Apart from that (I volunteered in a project related to the project topic). Regularly with the
association I am a member of now (we are doing something about the project topic). I can also do
video editing, I can edit the videos requested during the project, project promotion and souvenir
videos. (Contribution related to the project topic) Since I am a mathematics teacher, I can help with
mathematics-related tasks during the project. I can teach and guide the local youth, my teammates,
by making them understand the logic with proofs. I am also good at taking photos. I can take photos
of the event during the project.

The project develops me in areas such as cooperation, teamwork, stress and crisis control; I hope it
will make me emotionally stronger while solving problems with my teammates. I also think that it will
inform me about (the subject of the project) and make me have more experience.

I plan to become a professor of mathematics when I graduate (in the project country). Since I will be
working with young people in your project and in my work, I believe that the project will help me in
my business life and my current university life, especially in my communication and working together
with young people.

If you think I am a suitable person for your project, I would be happy to work with you. If you have
any questions please don't hesitate to ask. You can reach me at the following contact addresses. I will
be waiting for a positive response.

Kind regards,
