PERC Dissects: Bison, the Yellowstone
Television Show, and Brucellosis
by Aaron Flint, Montana Talks
I’ve been trying really hard not to mention that one
popular TV show that everyone is always talking about,
but there was no getting around it today — and for good
reason.
The free-market environmentalists at PERC, the
Bozeman-based Property and Environment Research
Center, recently spearheaded a new program to help real-
life ranchers in Montana’s Paradise Valley deal with the
real-world threat of bison and brucellosis.
As luck (or incredible writing by Taylor Sheridan)
would have it, the topic of brucellosis was featured on the
latest episode of the hit TV show “Yellowstone.”

Digging out in St. Marie, Part 2

Lin says, “When we came into Saint Marie, we went down further than Country
Club to turn because we saw this tiny one lane that at that time, you couldn’t
see where the excess snow was and didn’t want to get stuck. We went down
to Cedar and turned and, yes, it was a one-lane on the left coming in but hard
to see where piles of snow were. To get out, you had to stay on the right side.
Fossum’s was starting to plow the streets.” And then the snow removal started
at Frank and Lin’s house. Our question is: who’s doing the shoveling and who’s
doing the photo taking? We’re quite positive Frank doesn’t sport a ponytail....

“The goal of these tree bundles is to improve and
increase fish habitat availability in the Trout Pond
and ultimately improve the fishery,” said Jared Krebs,
Glasgow-area fisheries biologist.
Both Thompson and FWP staff are asking that
trees be returned to the Glasgow fairgrounds following
the holidays, and all trees are free of flocking, tinsel, and
other artificial decorations prior to return. A trailer will
be available at the fairgrounds for returned trees, and
further details will be given out at the time of sale. All
natural trees that are clean of decorations are welcome
and can be donated.
This effort between Troop 861 and FWP will allow
Thompson to complete his Eagle Scout project, as well as
accomplish fisheries management objectives addressing
habitat concerns at the Fort Peck Trout Pond.
“I appreciate folks taking this opportunity to help
create fish habitat and help me complete my Eagle Scout
Project,” adds Thompson.
