It was quite a send-off for Butch Blatter this Cemetery which included a loop past the Fire

Connors inducted into Hall

It’s an honor to be inducted into a sports Hall of
Fame. Former Glasgow athlete and superintendent Bob
Connors had that honor Friday night prior to the Laurel-
Fergus football game.
Connors and the 1999 Locomotives football team
were inducted into the Laurel High School Hall of
Fame during a pregame ceremony. Connors along with
coaches Jim O’Neil, Brent Edgmond, Pat Hansen, Mike
Hickethier, Mike Ludwig, Kerm Peterson, and Travis
Rauh helped coach the locomotives to the 1999 State
Class A championship. Laurel beat Hamilton 21-10 for
the win and the first state title in Laurel’s football history.
Since that time Laurel has won in 2002, 2020 and finished
second in 2019 and 2021.
This was Connors’ first state championship as
a coach. He led Glasgow to a Class A title in 1980 as
quarterback, followed by a career with the University
of Montana Grizzlies that ended short with a devasting
injury.
The Locomotives were originally selected as
inductee into the LHS Hall of Fame in 2020 but COVID
restrictions delayed the ceremony.

38-31 in Class AA. Top-ranked Hamilton shutout Butte
Central 42-0 in Class A, Flint Creek, No. 1 in Class C
8-man, ran over Charlo 60-24 and No. 1 Broadview-
Lavina edged Shields Valley 34-26.
Fairview, ranked No. 9 in 8-man football, demolished
Poplar 78-8 Thursday night. Culbertson, ranked 10th,
whipped Scobey-Opheim 44-14. I have been saying the
Fairview has joined District 2B, but that will not happen
until the 2023 season.
Jordan, ranked eighth in 6-man, shutout Gardiner
24-0.
Two-time defending 6-man champions Froid-Lake
notched its second win of the season with a 45-19 victory
over Roy-Winifred Saturday afternoon. The Red Hawks
had lost their last two games after opening with a win.
Then there were two new schools that won their first
Class A football game Friday night. East Helena traveled
to Browning where the Vigilantes smoked the Indians
47-13. Lockwood hosted Sidney Friday night with the
Lionx thumping the Eagles 49-19.
Glasgow will be on the road Friday night to take on
Cut Bank in a Northern B opener for both teams. Game
time is set for 7 p.m. KTZ will have live coverage of the
game if you can’t travel to the game.
