Doc Polazzo and Doc Hudson

Rachel, a genuine movie buff, couldn't resist
snapping a photo of Doc Polazzo's 1953 Packard
Sedan Clipper that was featured in the Flatland
Cruisers Car Show held during the Glasgow All
Class Reunion. "Remember that movie Cars?
It reminded me of Doc Hudson, the Fabulous
Hudson Hornet (in photo at right) and, well, it's
kind of neat that Doc Polazzo has a car that looks
a lot like Doc Hudson," Rachel explained. Oh,
and notice the ribbons hanging from the rear view
mirror in that beauty? Back to the movie Cars, it's
a classic as well. Wonder if Doc Polazzo has ever
watched Doc Hudson in action!

Recruits going to next level here, there and everywhere

Have you ever wondered how many Montana
athletes will be going to college to continue their
sports career? I was always curious just how many
did go to the next level.
Northeastern Montana has a few that will go on
to play college sports. Dickinson State is one of the
institutes that likes to recruit Montana kids. And it’s
not just for football, but wrestling, track and cross
country as well.
We know Kyler Hallock will be playing football
at Dickinson State. Ali Cunningham is at Dickinson
State for cross country and track and Hinsdale’s
Kaitlyn McColly just wrapped up her first year at
the North Dakota college.
Wolf Point’s Ethan Blount is going to Rocky
Mountain College for cross country and track.
Cameron Brusvin of Plentywood will play football
and do track at University of Mary. Jaycee Erickson
of Saco is going to Montana Tech for basketball;
Eizabeth Field of MonDak to Williston State for
basketball; Scobey’s Colter Oie to North Dakota
State College of Science for baseball; Mandy
Fuhrmann of Opheim to MSU-Billings for track;
Jazmin Gorder of Poplar to Minot State for women’s

I decided to go one step further to see how
many high school recruits are going for football,
men’s basketball, women’s basketball and other
sports. Some athletes are going to participate in two
sports.
There are roughly 547 athletes going to college
for sports and an education. Out of that there are
311 of those staying in Montana to play.
For football there are 130; 111 for men’s and
women’s track; 49 for women’s basketball; 39 for
volleyball; 37 for men’s and women’s cross country
and men’s and women’s soccer; 37 for men’s
basketball; 22 for men’s and women’s golf; 19 for
softball; 17 for men’s wrestling; 14 for baseball; nine
for women’s wrestling; nine for men’s and women’s
rodeo; eight for men’s and women’s swimming; five
for lacrosse; one each for tennis, bowling, rowing,
hockey and gymnastics.
Bowling, rowing and hockey are not MHSA
sports but the age goes into high school. Glasgow
has an excellent hockey program and the Ice Dawg
high school boys won the state championship this
year.
Women’s wrestling is starting to be a high
support for high school and college girls. Swimming
is more of a high school sport for the larger schools.
These numbers may change as more athletes
are deciding to go on to play college sports.
Montana’s top two scoring leaders in boys’
basketball are going on as well. Lame Deer’s Journey
Emerson is going to Bacone College, a private Native
American college which was founded in 1880 in
Muskogee, Oklahoma. The 5-foot-11 guard poured
in 82 points against Forsyth on Feb. 5. He also had
61 against Poplar on Dec. 22, 11 days after scoring
45 against Huntley Project and three days after he
scored 42 against Red Lodge. He also had 49 against
Red Lodge in January.
Lodge Grass’ Damon Gros Venture is going
to Dawson Community College in Glendive. He
finished his high school career with 2,232 points
and had set the scoring record with 71 points before
Emerson took him out.
Ironically, neither were picked to play on the
Montana all-star team for the Montana/Wyoming
basketball series.
Wolf Point has hired a new boys’ basketball
coach/ Cameron McCormick will take over for
Troy Blount who stepped down after the 2021-22
season was over. McCormick has coached in Lame
Deer and Rocky Boy girls programs. He also spent a
year in Absarokee as the boys coach. He has a 66-69
record overall.

Sources confirmed that once Pelosi
was finished, there was no communion
wine left for the 1,200 people still
waiting in line to receive it. Pelosi's
husband stayed behind to ask for some
communion in a to-go cup.
At publishing time, local authorities
found Pelosi passed out in an alleyway.
It was unclear whether it was because
she had taken the cup in an unworthy
manner and brought judgment onto
herself, or because her blood alcohol was
four times the legal limit.

Rachel also snapped a photo at the Flatland
Cruisers Car Show of JAYSGMC, a 1959 GMC
pickup that also reminded her of the movie Cars.
Sir Tow Mater, most commonly referred to as
Tow Mater or simply Mater, is probably the most
beloved character in the movies Cars 1,2 & 3,
voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. "My name's Mater
... Yeah, like touh-mater, but without the touh,"
says Mater. Mater's design is based on a 1955-
57 Chevrolet. Both Mater and JAYSGMC have
the same paint scheme going, although the latter
isn't a dually touh truck. Jay Rice had his Jimmy
pickup on display, probably not to compete (it's
probably the crack in the windshield that docked
him for a rosette), but rather he had a "for sale"
sign in the window. We don't know whether it
sold or not, but the number to find out is 406-
688-9402. She may not be the prettiest pick-up
in town (although Rachel loves these pick-ups
when they're completely original, paint job and
all!) but we can tell you, this is one solid piece of FOR ALL YOUR
machinery with a strong-running engine and in ELECTRICAL NEEDS
tip-top condition driving-wise, besides looking a
little bit like ol' Mater in a couple of spots. And
JAYSGMC even has all the headlights!

a good ol' Independence Day cookout will

ago. On a bright note, if you like
strawberries, the average retail price
for this tasty fruit declined by 86¢
compared to a year ago.
One other tasty tidbit, a strawberry is not a true
fruit. Fruits are the sweet, pulpy edible structure of a
plant that develops from a flower and contains seeds.
That description suits a strawberry only that the red
fleshy part of the strawberry (the receptacle) is not
the fruit, but the seeds are the fruit itself.
Also, a strawberry is not an actual berry. Berries
stem from flowers with one ovary, but strawberries
grow out of multiple flower parts!
Do your kids like strawberries? If so, it's one
of the healthiest fruits for children. Moreover, it is
packed with vitamin C and minerals necessary for
the child’s growth.
So, now would be a good time to start hoarding
those strawberries.
But remember, when shopping for strawberries,
flip the container over and inspect the bottom. This is
where water may gather in transport and where mold
is more likely to occur. Nothing worse than getting
home and finding moldy strawberries!

Ole was learning to go skydiving. He was told that
shortly after jumping out of the plane he was to pull
the short rip cord and that will open a small parachute
which will open the large chute and if by chance the
large chute fails to open, he should pull the other cord
which will open the large parachute.
Before getting into the airplane was told that a car
will be on the ground to take him back to the airport.
Ole jumps out of the plane and proceeds to pull the
first cord. The small chute doesn't open so he pulls the
last cord and the large parachute doesn't open either.
As he is rapidly descending back to earth, Ole thinks to
himself, "Vouldn't you know, It vill be yust my luck dat
da car won't be dere either!"
