Two beautiful evenings with some fast-paced thrills and
spills —including the Wild Pony Race to kick things
off each evening — the Northeast Montana Fair’s
PRCA Rodeo concluded Wednesday night witnessed
by another packed crowd. Fans were treated to a
slew of some of the best cowboys and cowgirls in the
world, many of which will be making the trip to the
Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada
December 2nd-11th. Total payout for the Northeast
Montana Fair’s PRCA Rodeo was just shy of topping
$100,000 at $95,668. The All-Around cowboy title went
to Riley Wakefield who competed in tie-down roping,
steer wrestling and team roping to pocket $4,837. But

that wasn’t the biggest check written out by by Rodeo
Secretary Marlene Dreesen as bull rider Wylee Hurst
kept the bulls from getting the skunk, it was winner take
all. The Rigby, Idaho cowboy was the only one to hang in
there for the full eight seconds and took the entire purse
of $6,274. Another interesting note, Caleb Bennett, the
bareback bronc rider from Corvallis, Montana featured
in Wednesday’s Buzz from Tuesday’s Rodeo, had his
score of 86 hold on for the win. Saddle bronc rider
Houston out of Miles City had a score of 85 Tuesday
night that also held up for the 1st place check.

I’ve been asked by many to stop writing about St. Marie.
To the contrary, the goal is to keep the Commissioners,
Businessmen, Banks, and Owners informed. We try to be
objective, tell the truth, and promote the improvement of
St. Marie benefiting all.
Drive around and take a look at the current condition
of St. Marie.
St. Marie has been problemed and slowly dying over the
last 20 years. Progress and growth must be achieved. The
60-year-old Water and Sewer lines are constantly breaking.
Grants have been awarded to repair and replace these lines.
Economy of scale is paramount to reach and maintain
financial sustainability. More income is necessary to
keep the Districts and Associations operational. Try
compromising and working together for the good of all,
as one Commissioner said. Put aside egos, title, power
and any other self serving distractions. Only 20% to 25%
of owners paying the bills cannot keep the buildings and
infrastructure operational.
A big problem exists if only 177 of 239 SMCA owners
pay their bills. Of the 1004 property owners 765 other
owners exist. The Water/Sewer District has more paying
customers and has worked a financial compromise with
investor/developers to increase revenue. Additionally,
instead of sitting on liens for 20 years, the Water District
has exercised civil action to recover arrears revenue.
Old outdated policies have been updated to fit today’s
circumstances and needs of the Water/Sewer District.
CHANGE.
It’s a daily dynamic situation dealing with unforeseens.
Some issues are essential and others are non essential to
address. Reducing non essential spending and negotiating
the best prices are the fiduciary responsibility of those in
control. Experienced owners with business, construction,
mechanical, and management background on a large scale

It’s only common sense and doing the right thing for the
good of all. Some refuse to change and improve.
St. Marie properties are somewhat in demand and
prices have risen. Folks are moving from Big Cities to areas
of lower population with a lower cost of living. Lawlessness
and rising costs have prompted this movement. St. Marie
has potential if all involved work together. It’s a win, win,
win situation.

is appreciated and should be noted.

State and Federal agencies has been big.

Recently I was watching some song reactions on
my phone and was on Jaybriel Akoi’s channel. Looking
down a menu list I spotted Jive Talkin’ by the Bee Gees.
It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975
and stayed there for two weeks, basically kicking off
their tremendously successful disco era.
Here’s the kicker: behind the title it stated this:
[Video blocked in country]. That country would be
the United States. It appears today’s word police now
have “jive” in their crosshairs, and that’s no jive! - mike,
