At the end of the lesson, the students would be able to:
• identify the benefits of being physical fit
• describe the differences of the components of physical fitness
• perform the examples of five components in physical fitness

program. As a short recap class, what is
exercise program?

As I remember about the previous topic sir, Exercise


Program is a great way to stay physically and mentally
fit. It also provides additional benefits such as
improved the condition of heart and lungs.

Okay. Our activity goes like this. Listen to
the instructions.
I have here pictures and I will group you
into 4 groups. There are phrases in the
picture that will give you a clue while you
are brainstorming on what is in the picture.
And you need to form a word base on the
picture and phrases that is given. Is that
clear class?

give you 5 minutes to prepare and
brainstorm, after 5 minutes you need to
post your work on the board. Your timer

form earlier which is PHYSICAL
FITNESS is our topic for today. And I
have here three objectives that we need to
attain at the end of the discussion. Kindly
read the three objectives Mr. Martinez.

Hmmm Physical Fitness sir is a state of health and
well-being and it can be achieved through proper
nutrition and sufficient exercise.
Thank you, Miss Ayah. Yes, your idea is
indeed correct. Now, who can give
examples of a physically fit person?

A person who is physically fit is capable of performing


and enjoying daily activities like walking, jogging and
biking, sir.

E. DISCUSSION
And now you will have another activity
class, in the same group.
The instruction is you are going to discuss
within your group on what is physical
fitness and how you can say that you are a
physically fit. Choose one representative to
explain your work in front. Are we clear

Okay! Time’s up class. Let’s start the


presentation from Group 1 to 4. Group 1: Physical Fitness is one’s ability to execute
daily activities with performance, endurance and
strength. Being a physically fit person can perform and
able to do school works and other home
responsibilities.

Group 2: Physical Fitness refers to the body system


work together to allow us to be healthy and perform
activities of daily living.
You are physically fit when you:
• can respond effectively to the normal life situations
• can do household chores
• can respond to emergency situation (like running)

Group 3: Physical fitness refers to the ability of being


physically active and has a quick respond to the
environment. A person which is physically fit have
enough energy to enjoy daily activities and enjoy
doing sports activities without any struggle.

Group 4: Physical fitness are the activities that good


for the heart, lungs and muscles of the body. A
physically fit person can be active all day, enjoy
leisure activities and doing a part-time jobs.

What a great performance my dear


students. Give yourselves a round of

Your presentation and explanation are all


correct. In addition to that, physical fitness
is a state of health and well-being, more
specific to the ability in performing sports,
occupations and daily activities. Physical
fitness, will achieved through proper
nutrition, mode-rate exercise and sufficient
rest.

physical exercises?
Yes sir, 30 minutes per day.

What a healthy lifestyle Ms. Ysa. Did you


rest or sleep at the exact time or minimum
of 8 hours sleep?

Well, if you do these three things class and


maintained it, therefore you are considered
as a physically fit person.
Anyways, physical fitness has five
components. Who has an idea if what are
those five components, I think you
discussed these topic on your previous
semesters. Am I right class?
Yes sir. The five components of physical fitness are
the:
1. Cardiovascular Endurance
2. Muscular Endurance
3. Flexibility
4. Muscular Strength
5. Body Composition

Cardiovascular Endurance is the
ability of the heart and lungs to work
together to provide the needed oxygen of
the body during sustained workloads. Did

Muscular Endurance is the ability


of the muscle to perform continuous
without fatigue.
Flexibility is the ability of each
joints to move through the available range
of motion for a specific joint.
Muscular Strength is the amount
of force a muscle can produce.
Body Composition is the amount of
fat mass compared to lean muscle mass,
bone and organs.

F. APPLICATION
I have here examples of the five
components of physical fitness class. You
have another activity class, the same
groupings. I want you to perform an
example of the 5 components of physical
fitness. For group 1 cardiovascular
endurance, for group 2 muscular strength,
for group 3 flexibility, for group 4 body
composition. I will give you 15 minutes to
practice and after 15 minutes let’s start the
presentation.

Yes, that’s right class, it is important to be
physically fit because a person who is
capable of living life to its fullest extent
and a person who is physically fit is less
prone to any medical conditions, or in
short healthy individuals. Therefore, you
as a teenagers you must maintain a relaxed
state of mind and you should be physically
active.
