Overview • The primary source for electricity generation
has been conventional fuels like coal and oil

• Global warming, pollution, and resource

depletion has led humans to the path of
finding alternatives

• Bhopal, being the strategic and good fit

location for solar microgrids presents a good
area of intervention for implementing solar
power generation

Areas of • Problem associated with solar energy generation is its

dependence on weather conditions of that area.
Concern • Fortunately, in Bhopal, the drier season on average lasts for
about 8.9 months which increases the city’s potential in
terms of solar energy generation compared to many other
Indian cities with prolonged wetter seasons.

• For example, for the successful implementation of the

Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, updated census
data for every three to four years is required but census data
is available only every ten years.

Cost v/s In 2022, 1 Kw solar panel costs around

Benefits
7000Rs
Other incurred cost is around 3000 Rs
Life of Solar Panel is around 25-30 years
On an average we receive 5 hrs sunlight in a
day, so we generate around 5 KW in a day
Approximate cost of 5 W is Rs 1.11 Rs
Average cost of 1 KW electricity is Rs 4.43
So saving is RS 4.32 approximately, 80 % of
cost is saved

Methodology
Cross-sectional study design

designed and developed for data collection and

analysis using the google form

collect the data from a large pool of subjects and

compare different variables at the same time

different variables such as age, education level,

area of residence, monthly electricity bills, monthly
family income, and type of residence
RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

AMONG THE RESPONDENTS 58.3% WERE 95.8% OF THE RESPONDENTS WERE READY TO
WILLING TO INSTALL ROOFTOP SOLAR PANELS INSTALL ROOFTOP SOLAR PANELS WITH
IN THEIR HOMES, 16.7% REFUSED TO DO SO GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES
AND 25% WERE INDECISIVE
RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

75% WERE READY TO INSTALL ROOFTOP

SOLAR PANELS IF THE PRICES OF SOLAR-
DIFFERENT FACTORS
GENERATED ELECTRICITY WERE THE SAME AS
THAT OF FOSSIL FUELS.
RESULTS AND ANALYSIS
Conclusion Solar rooftop panels might be one of the effective
solutions in achieving the twin target of protection of
natural capital and achieving a sustainable future

Higher subsidies and higher taxation on electricity

generated from non-renewable energy sources like coal

Increasing awareness among the people regarding the

advantages of solar energy in the long run.
The Solution to this problem can come from the
government in the form of higher subsidies and higher
taxation on electricity generated from non-renewable
energy sources like coal.
