DISCUSSION

 What is the importance of communication in event industry?

 Communication is the heart of everything we do, enabling us to form a


relationship, carry out work and achieve our goals. It is also at the heart of
successful event marketing.
 Communication is one of the most important aspects of being an effective event
planner. To make a successful in event management is multifaceted; it is much
more than just communicating with the people.
 Knowing just how to speak and communicate with people well is a skill that takes
time and practice, and it is one of the most useful traits in the realm of event
management.

 Methods of Communication

WRITTEN ORAL

Letter, Emails, Reports, Notice Meeting, Teleconference, Video


Text Messaging, Catalogue, Brochure Conference, Online Chat, Interview,
Social Media, Business Card and etc. Oral presentation, Telephone
 Communication Skills

2. Straight Talking
3. Non Verbal Communication

5. Emotion Control

 Questioning Skills

1. Open and Closed Question- A closed question usually receives a single word or
very short, factual answer. For example: Are you ready? The answer is “Yes or
No”.
2. Funnel Question- This technique involves starting with general questions, and
then drilling down to a more specific point in each.
3. Probing Question- Effective way of probing is to use why method, which can help
you quickly get to the root of a problem.
4. Leading Question- Try to lead the respondent to your way of thinking.
5. Rhetorical Question- Question that aren’t really question at all, in that they don’t
expect an answer.
