The goal of this activity is for you to distinguish the relationships and differences of research approaches, designs, tools, and techniques used in Industrial Education and Technical Vocational Education. Moreover, this
will assist you to select the most appropriate design for your research proposal.
This assignment should be done by group. In the summary section, you should write a brief (up to 500 words) summary of the article in your own words. Do not use copy and paste, try to rephrase. This will be a good
practice for your final project’s literature review. In the critique section, you evaluate the article using the following grading criteria. The format of your paper should NOT be like a Q & A list. Instead, you should
integrate your answers into an essay format.

surroundings becomes habitual. Be
that as it may, field-based observation
has been observed to have elements
that hold back preservice teachers
when it comes to implementations,
experience, and the affected
stakeholders. The researchers
hypothesize that field-based
observation is an option suitable to
substitute traditional classroom
observation, and through analysis of
previously developed curriculums it is
regarded as something that could
effectively improve teaching
capabilities as per reflections in
developmental maps in the pre-service
education. With the use of mixed-
method research design, the
researchers collected data through a
two-phased process, first getting and
analyzing quantitative data, followed
by collecting qualitative evidence to
set forth the latter. Five groups of

Cotabato City, Southern Philippines,
made up the 136 participants in the
study's quantitative phase. The
learning environment, the attitude
towards the said settings and the
people involved in those circles are the
components that are measured in
some way. The research instrument
consisted of multiple parts and was
researcher-constructed. Basic
information regarding the profiles of
pre-service students was gathered in
Part I. Challenges encountered during
pre-service field-based observation
were discussed in Part II. To validate
the survey results and gather more
information on the items listed in the
questionnaire, Part III interview
schedules were developed for FGI of
pre-service teachers and student
supervisors and for KII of cooperating
teachers and school principals. Lastly,
the study's conclusions revealed that
pre-service instructors often had only
mild challenges while doing field
observations, particularly with regard
to the students, tasks assigned, and

learning environment. The study's
conclusions were supported by in-
depth discussions of its qualitative
data. Implications for further
developing the practicum component
that can assist in bridging the theory-
practice nexus in pre-service teacher
education and support the growth of
teachers' professional competences
were identified. Through interviews,
more in-depth perspectives and points
of view from many participants painted
a clear picture of the issues related to
off-campus observation. All agreed
that if challenges in various areas are
overcome, field-based observation in
educational settings becomes a
valuable experience. They
acknowledged both the advantages
and disadvantages of such challenges
for future instructors.
