Part 1 – Aviation Topics
Ok, shall we start? Part One: “Aviation Topics”. In this part, you will answer some questions
related to aviation.

Part 2 – Interacting as a Pilot


Part Two: “Interacting as a Pilot”. In this part, you will interact with the Air Traffic Control in
five different situations. You may ask the controller to say again once. After listening to the
controller, you should interact as the pilot. All information is important. You may take notes if
you wish.

You are the pilot of a twin-engined aircraft. Your call sign is ANAC 123.
Are the instructions clear? OK, so let’s start. Situation number one:

Situation 1) You have just departed from Heathrow Airport. Listen to London Tower and read
back.

ANAC 123 [MAINTAIN RUNWAY HEADING] [ UNTIL FOUR THOUSAND FEET ], then [
TURN RIGHT ] to Publi [ INTERSECTION ] and [ CLIMB TO ] [ FLIGHT LEVEL 280 ]. [5]

Minimum interaction: "Roger I will maintain runway heading until 4 thousand feet.
Then I will turn right to intersection and climb to flight level 280"
TRACK 2

Now, during climb, a light of wheel well fire turns on. Call London Departure, report
this situation and inform you need to return to the airport.

Minimum interaction: “Control, ANAC 123. The wheel well fire light is on. I need to report to the
airport.”

ANAC 123. Roger, [ DESCEND TO THREE THOUSAND FEET ], [ FLY HEADING ZERO
SIX ZERO ]. Expect landing on [ RUNWAY ONE FIVE RIGHT ] . Confirm if you have [

TRACK 3
Minimum interaction; “AFFIRM. I will descend to 3 thousand feet, heading 060.
Expected landing on runway 15 right.”

What did the controller say?

Thank you. This is the end of situation number 1. Now, situation number 2
Situation 2) During the cruise phase of the flight you have requested to change the flight level
to avoid a strong head wind. Listen to Paris Center and read back.

ANAC 123, you are [ CLEARED TO CLIMB ] to [ FLIGHT LEVEL THREE FOUR ZERO ].
But due to traffic [ SLOW DOWN TO MACH POINT SEVEN EIGHT ] [3]

Minimum interaction: "Roger, I will climb to flight level 340 and I will reduce speed

Now, you have two drunk passengers fighting on board and you need to divert to Paris.

Situation 3) You have just taken off from Guarulhos Airport. Listen to Guarulhos Tower and

Now, you have an air conditioning failure and you were informed that the passengers are
complaining that the cabin is too hot. Call Departure, report this situation and say your
intentions.

Minimum interaction: "I am cleared to land, runway 26 right.

Now,during landing this situation happened to you.(Show this picture to the test taker). Call
Miami Tower, report this situation and inform you decided to evacuate the aircraft.
Minimum interaction: “Tower, ANAC 123. I had a runway excursion and I decided to evacuate the
aircraft.”

Part 3 – Unexpected Situations


Part Three: “Unexpected Situations”. In this part of the test, you will listen to three different
communications between pilots and air traffic controllers.
The recordings will be played twice. There is a five-second pause before the recording is
repeated. After listening to the recording, you should tell me everything that the pilot and the
controller said. I will then ask you a question.

At the end of Part three, I will ask you to compare the three situations, so please take notes.
