NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE SCHOOL IP MONTH CELEBRATION
October 21, 2022

I. Introduction
The National Indigenous Peoples month in October is a Philippine
observance pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 1906 s. 2009 aims to
support and raise awareness of indigenous cultural communities. It is
hoped that more Filipinos will be aware of the numerous contributions
of National Indigenous Peoples Month. Indigenous peoples make up at
least 10% of the total population in developing countries such as
Southeast Asia. The Philippines alone has over 50 distinct indigenous
cultural communities that inhabit the archipelago’s lands. These
Indigenous peoples are well known for their rich artistic and cultural
heritage, expertise in specific occupations, and mastery of the land that
has sustained them for centuries.
The Indigenous People celebration highlights the important role of
the indigenous groups in our natural resources and culture and our role
in protecting them. Thus, Maligaya Elementary School conducted
School’s Indigenous People’s Day last October 21, 2022 at 1:00 in the
afternoon with a theme “Kasaysayan,Karunungan at Wika ng mga
Katutubong Pamayanan: Mga saligan ng katutubong
Pagkakakilalanlan at tulay tungo sa inklusibong Kaunlaran” .
The celebration was actively participated by the principal, teachers,
and learners. The program caters to all the learners even if they are not
IPs so them to be aware of the Indigenous People’s cultures.
