However, the word that is connected via a connector is not the only type of borrower. There
is another type of borrower, one that does not require a connector. This type of borrower
describes the word it is borrowing from. In English it always comes before the word it is
borrowing from, while in Arabic it always comes after.
As you can see, both "cold" and "water" are borrowers from "milk", but "water" is a different
type of borrower from "cold". How so? "Water" is connected to the word it is borrowing
from ("milk") via a connector, whereas "cold" is not.
We will call the first type "connected borrowers" and the second "describing borrowers".
The reason is that the latter type describes the word it is borrowing from, whereas the
former type is connected to the word it is borrowing from via a connector.
So, on your homework if you were given "Hania completed the difficult assignment and
essay.", you would do it the following way:
Hania – doer
completed – verb
difficult – describing borrower that describes "assignment"
assignment – receiver
and – connector
essay – connected borrower connected to "assignment"
Aamir – doer
completed – verb
essay – receiver
and – connector
difficult – describing borrower that describes "assignment"
assignment – connected borrower connected to "essay"
