To study the connection and operation of Asynchronous machine

Theory:
 An induction motor (also known as an asynchronous motor) is a commonly used AC
electric motor.
 In an induction motor, the electric current in the rotor needed to produce torque is
obtained via
 Electromagnetic induction from the rotating magnetic field of the stator winding.
 The rotor of an induction motor can be a squirrel cage rotor or wound type rotor.
 Induction motors are referred to as ‘asynchronous motors’ because they operate at a
speed less than their synchronous speed

Apparatus:
 Asynchronous motor
 Connecting wire
 Power supply
 Measuring instruments (e.g Voltmeter , ammeter)

Procedure:
 Take a Asynchronous machines and make the connection of the windings a desired
configuration
 Connect the machine with power supply ( if Asynchronous motor )
 Couple the machine with a prime mover ( if Asynchronous generator )
 As we are considering Asynchronous motor in this lab , so connect it with the power
supply
 Power on the supply
 Note the value
 The whole operation is shown in figure 1 and figure .2
