NARRATIVE REPORT ON GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT (GAD) SEMINAR


WORKSHOP
Date: December 8-9, 2022
Venue: Villa Lalaine Hot and Cold Spring Resort, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat

I. INTRODUCTION

           Following DepEd Order no. 63, s. 2012 – Guidelines on the Preparation of Gender and
Development (GAD) Utilization of GAD Budgets and Submission of Accomplishment
Reports and DepEd Order no. 27, s. 2013 – Guidelines on the Establishment of Gender and
Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) at the Regional, Division, and School
Level, the Gender and Development Focal Point System conducted a seminar about Gender
and Development for all teachers of Don E. Sero Elementary School. The resource speakers
of the seminar mentioned above were P.R. Paul P. Resada T-I, the Gender and Development
Focal Person of the school, Dr. Lilibeth N. Serenobis, MT-I, Sirikit M. Dumamba, T-III,
Norhata M. Wali, T-II and Louie Nielsen J. Paniango, T-I. 

II. Goals and Objectives

1. Enhance awareness and responsibilities about matters concerning the prevention of


violence against children and women
2. Provide adequate information and equip participants with knowledge regarding issues,
policies laws concerning the protection of women and children
3. Support the agency's programs by applying their learning in dealing with their students 
4. Address Different issues concerning violence against children and women in the workplace

III. ACCOMPLISHMENT

A. PRE-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

I. Mobilization and Organizing Implementation


a. Formulating a training proposal
b. Create working committees needed.
 b. Create guidelines for the execution of the training seminar.

B. IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

The 1st Day session, the seminar informs the teachers about gender-related issues and
concerns of men and women in society, particularly in School. They were informed about the
historical roots and growth of Gender and Development. Aside from that, the discussion also
focused on the Legal Mandates and Basis of GAD. Various examples were given to illustrate

gender differences, inequality, equality, biases, and prejudices, whether in School or real life.
Another topic during the discussion was gender awareness and sensitivity. The teachers were
also accustomed to how to acknowledge gender differences and promote gender sensitivity in
a school setting. The Gender and Development Plan of the School was also talked about.
Plans, programs, and activities of the school, as well as the appropriate expenditure of Gad
Budget, were also emphasized. The teacher was encouraged to give suggestions and opinions
about the GAD Plan and to collaborate with School GFPS for the successful and
comprehensive implementation of the plan. After the discussion proper, the teachers were
allowed to ask questions and give opinions and reactions regarding the topics discussed. The
speakers were very much willing to answer their queries. 

The 2nd Day session was adjourned at 12: 00 noon. The participants left the venue filled with
knowledge about gender and development and equipped with skills in practically applying
gender-related concerns and issues in Schools and settings. 

C. POST-IMPLEMENTATION PHASE

The programs/ activities were monitored and supervised by the School Head. All actions are
documented and supported with photos. The Don E. Sero Elementary School is also looking
forward to continuing this program next school year.
