Imports of Poultry Meat in
In 2020, Malaysia imported $181M in poultry meat, becoming the
32nd largest importer of poultry meat in the world.

At the same year, poultry meat was the 192nd most imported product
in Malaysia.

Malaysia imports poultry meat primarily from:


Thailand ($81.6M), China ($31.3M), Netherlands ($17M),

Exports of Poultry Meat in
In September 2020, the decrease in poultry meat's year-by-year
exports was explained primarily by a decrease in exports
to Singapore (MYR-941k or -32.9%), Vietnam (MYR-355k or -
69.9%), and Thailand (MYR-169k or -17.6%).

In September 2020, the increase in poultry meat's year-by-year


imports was explained primarily by an increase in imports
from Thailand (MYR9.69M or 31.8%) and Brazil (MYR627k or

In 2021,
Malaysians
consumed an
estimated 49.7
kgs of poultry
meat per person.

Poultry processing constitutes 60% of the meat processing


industry.

Although Malaysia is a net exporter of poultry meat, it is still


a net importer of meat products, particularly beef & mutton.

Poultry meat is a major raw material for further processing.

CAB said it is working to ramp up its value-added products
