Living in this era where chaos and many problems have seemingly taken over our
country, there are many situations that evade the real essence of justice and peace. My
chosen issue has been very rampant to the society even years back but this year, 2022,
made these issues be on the hot seat on every news and in every area of our country and
specifically, my community. This issue knows no specific gender, sex, religion, point of
view, preference, class, and any thing that divides people. Every person can be a victim of
this issue that evade unto them internally and externally. My chosen issue is the spread of
MISINFORMATION, DISINFORMATION, and MALINFORMATION. Before I get into the main
part of this essay, let me first define and differentiate the three (3). Misinformation is
where the content is false, misleading, or taken out of context and shared without the
intent to harm. Disinformation, on the other hand, is purposefully false or misleading
content created with an intent to deceive or cause harm. While Malinformation is a genuine
information that is shared with the main purpose of causing harm. These three (3) are used
interchangeably by people without knowing that every one of them has their own specific
definitions and specification involved.

I strongly believe that there is no good thing about the spreading of Misinformation,
Disinformation, and Malinformation as it not abides with the rule of law, man, and nature.
It may on the part that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, or the concept of freedom
of speech, but let’s all remember that we all have that Limited Freedom to use because we
are ought to prevent actions that might endanger the lives of many may it be on its
physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual aspect of an individual. Spreading such
news or information in these manners has no good. It doesn’t have to do with the growth
and success of a person. Therefore, I firmly agree with the fact that Misinformation,
Disinformation, and Malinformation should be prevented and even stopped in our society.

Obviously, the spreading of Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation is a

bad thing on every side of a coin. Why every side of the coin? This is because this action
mainly evades the justice and peace not just an individual but the whole society as the
news is fake-coated. The simple spread, accept, internalize, and tolerate such information
which you know is fake is already a bad thing or a red flag to an individual. This is why we

should know how to filter idea or messages we share, accept, and put into action as it
affects our whole being. Our actions and thoughts affect our individuality holistically.

I honestly don’t find any interesting facts or any interesting idea with this concept.
But one thing that doesn’t leave my mind with regards to this is the question, How can
people do such things like this, amidst of all the happenings in our country? I am still
wondering, weren’t they informed that the news that they were spreading is fake? Or
someone told them to do it in exchange for a money? Or they just wanted to spread it?
These are just some of the questions that are triggering my mind whenever I think of them
in this concept.

The spread of Misinformation, Disinformation, and Malinformation in today’s time

became inevitable because of it has been a lifestyle of most of the people. I, myself, do not
know where did it started but what I know right now is that it should be prevented as soon
as possible. These concepts truly evades justice and peace on the aspect that it became a
hindrance in achieving these. It became the hurdles for the acquisition of all positive
superlatives in life. It became the main problem as it criminalizes people and degrades
them even if they don’t deserve it. Justice and Peace must be given to everyone freely. All of
us deserve Justice and Peace. As we innovate and modernized, we are now bombarded with
different technologies and equipment that help us in communication. With this being said,
we must be a responsible user, specifically a communicator. We must stop this by being an
epitome of authenticity and someone who knows how to take accountability of everything
we share online and offline. We must know how to filter everything that we share to lessen
these kind of things. I believe that together, as a global community, if we could get to
encourage everyone to be mindful of everything we say and be a keen communicator, then
we will have an amazing world where we don’t get to worry about the news we are
receiving and spreading and Journalists will have the Press Freedom, Justice, and Peace , as
well as every people in this world, we deserve.
