Day 1 We can provoke our students' knowledge of force and motion by testing out each item to
differentiate and compare the needed forces (push or/and pull) to put these items in motion.
The provocation takes place in the classroom. Here are the used sources:

Day 2 Engage students in learning the concept by asking them to perform the following activities:

○ Push your pencil across your desk.


○ Drop an eraser onto the floor next to your desk.
○ Take a sheet of paper, roll it up, and toss it toward the trash can.

After doing these three activities, ask students what they observed about the objects. Discuss how
they moved, noting similarities and differences. Write their brainstormed ideas in an anchor chart.

Day 3 Students investigate how they can make an object move. And how they can control a force to
get an object to do what we want it to do.
Investigate the different ways they can make a toy car move without pushing it with their finger.
Look at toys with moving parts. What force is acting upon them to make them move?
