c. Appreciate the characteristics of the planet in the solar system

MATERIALS: PICTURES OF THE PLANETS
III. PROCEDURES
ELICIT:
The teacher will ask about the lesson yesterday. If the student will
remember the previous discussion. The teacher will show some pictures about the
planet in the solar system.
ENGAGE:
The teacher will ask the students:
 What is a Solar System
 What are the planets in our Solar System

Does the students can easily identify the planets in our Solar System?
Show the different pictures of the planets.
EXPLORE:
The teacher will show the image of all the planets in our Solar System,
then asks the students to arrange and identify the planets in the Solar System from
largest to smallest.

Why the surface of Mercury hot?


EXPLAIN:
The teacher will explain one of each planet in the Solar System and how
planets rotate on their own axis as they revolve around the sun.

The planets in our solar system are divided into two groups. The inner
planets are the four planets closer to the sun. The outer planets are those farther
from the sun.
ELABORATE:
Key concepts will be discussed by the teachers:
 Solar System is made up of all the planets that orbit our sun.
 There are eight planets in the Solar System.
 Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, are Terrestrial planets are the
rocky planets in our Solar System
 Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are known as Jovian
Planets are the gaseous planets in our Solar system.
Characteristics of the planets are…..
IV. EVALUATE
The teacher will give a quiz.
I. Write T if it is Terrestrial Planet and J if it is Jovian Planet

2. Saturn 6. Uranus
3. Mercury 7. Mars
4. Jupiter 8. Neptune

II. Essay

After appreciation the different planets, how will you protect our
planets?

V. EXTEND
The teacher will give an activity to the students. Compose a letter as if you are
writing to someone in another planet. On your letter, describe the Earth and compare it
with your recipient’s planet, etc. (Assignment)
