Patterns
Formulates the rule in finding the nth term using different strategies (looking for a pattern,
guessing and checking, working backwards). (M7AL-IIId-7)

Concept/Short Input:

e
Pattern is the order or arrangement of objects, shapes, letters, or

al
numbers.

Patterns without end are called infinite. Patterns that stop are
called finite.
rS
When you write the rule for number patterns or sequences, you
should include all the necessary information. The rule should tell
you where to begin, and how to get the next term or number.

Differentiating Expression from Equation

Differentiates expression from equation. (M6AL-IIId-15)

Concept/Short Input:

e
In Algebra, we use letters of the alphabet to represent a
number with unknown values. A letter used to represent one or

al
more numbers are called a variable. Any number used to replace a
variable is the value of the variable. An algebraic expression is a
collection of numbers, variables, operations, and grouping symbols.
rS
The parts that are added or subtracted are called terms. The
numerical part of a term is called the numerical coefficient.

An equation is a mathematical sentence. It has two sides

fo

separated by the = symbol.
