7 : 100
The ratio 7:100 means per hundred. Another name for per hundred Is
percent. The symbol of percent is %.
E. Discussing new concepts and You can visualize percent and its relationships to fractions, ratios and
practicing new skills #1 decimals. Percent is a ratio of a number to 100. A ratio can be written as
a fraction, and a fraction can be written as a decimal. So, visualizing
percent using models and decimals would be very easy for you.
Below is a figure for the problem. Notice that the unshaded box stands
for a girl, and the shaded box stands for a boy.
You can see in the figure that 25 of the boxes are shaded. This shows
that 25 out of 100 pupils are boys.
Example 2:
Brent got a score of 90 100 in his Math quiz. What percent of the total
number of items did he get correctly?
The figure below represents Brent’s correct answers.
One hundred boxes show the total number of items while ninety shaded
boxes out of the 100 boxes shows his correct answers.

Application of Concepts and percent is used and describe its function/importance.
Skills in Daily Lives
I. Making Generalization and Percent means “for every hundred.” It is denoted by the symbol %. To
Abstraction change percent to fraction, remove percent symbol and write the
number as a numerator, then 100 as denominator.
J. Evaluating Learning Directions: Write the ratio, decimal and percent equivalent of each
picture. Write your answer on your notebook.
