(b) The reason for Lila’s request was to seek medical help for her mother/ ask Mr
de Silva to take her mother in his car to the hospital in Alibagh. (1 mark)
(c) Sahib’s reaction to Lila’s question was of shock and loss of words/
not able to think what to reply (‘stammered a bit’) as the situation was
serious. He was willing to help as he offered to take Lila’s mother immediately.

(d) Lila’s mother is taken by Mr de Silva in his car to the hospital and is
admitted in the hospital/ she is well looked after by the hospital staff and
