PROBLEM
Introduction

FluidSim Pneumatics is a comprehensive software for the creation, simulation and study of
pneumatics or electropneumatics system.

For this report the focus is to simulate single action and double action cylinder.
Single Action Cylinder

Single Action Cylinder is a pneumatic system that uses pneumatic system to push the rod with
pressured air, but uses spring mechanism to return to initial position. It uses 3/2 Valve
Single Action Cylinder

During Position 1, the inlet air from pressured air tank will be connected to
3/2 Valve on point 1, but the air is being held because the valve is closed.

Position 1
Single Action Cylinder
During Position 2, the valve is mechanically open by pressing the button. The Pressured air flow
will go straight from point 1 to point 2, going to the cylinder and pushes the rod. But when the
button is released, the valve will be closed and return to position 1. The spring mechanism will
return the rod into original position and the pressured air behind the rod will be directed out
through point 3.

Position 2 Position 1
Double Action Cylinder

Double Action Cylinder is a pneumatic system that uses pneumatic system to push the rod with
pressured air both ways from initial to final, and from final back to initial position. It uses 4/n Way
Valve, with mechanical systems (Button Push).
Double Action Cylinder

During Position 1, the inlet air from pressured air tank will be connected to
4/n Valve on point 1, the air being sent to push the rod into starting position.
Double Action Cylinder
During Position 2, the valve is mechanically open by pressing the button. The Pressured air flow
will go straight from point 1 to point 4, going to the cylinder and pushes the rod. But when the
button is released, the valve will be closed and return to position 1. The air flow will be diverted to
go out from point 2, thus pushing the rod to return into original position and the pressured air
behind the rod will be directed out from point 4 to point 3.
