I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. Solves equations transformable to quadratic equations (including rational algebraic equation)

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Equations Transformable into Quadratic Equations
Reference: My Distance Learning Buddy, Mathematics 9
Materials: Textbook, Laptop, Presentation, board.
Values Integration: Realization that anyone has the choice to transform physically as long as he/she
know her limits.

III. LEARNING STRATEGIES

A. Preliminary
1. Daily Routine
- Opening Prayer
- Greetings
- Checking of Attendance
- Classroom Management
2. Recall
- Enumerate the four methods in solving Quadratic Equation.

3. Motivation
- Make up transformation is widely rampant nowadays especially in social media. A person
using make up tries to imitate the look of a celebrity, take a picture afterwards, and post it via
Instagram or other social media accounts.

Ask:
1. How do you find this kind of posts in social media? Do you find it entertaining?
2. If you are given the chance to transform yourself into a celebrity, who would it be and
why?
3. If you have the power to transform anything in one snap, what would it be and why?

B. ACTIVITIES
- Transform the following equations into standard form of quadratic equations ax 2 +bx +c=0
1. 10 x 2−4 x =4
2. 2 m2=5 m−4
3. 12 s 2−3 s=0

C. ANALYSIS
- How did you transform the equation into a standard form of quadratic equation?
- What mathematical concepts or principles did you apply?
- Can you enumerate the steps you followed in transforming equations to quadratic equations
in standard form?
- Did you find any difficulty in transforming each equation into quadratic equation? Explain.

D. ABSTRACTION
- What are the steps in in solving equations that are transformable into a Quadratic Equation?
1. Determine the least common denominator (LCD) of the fractions.
2. Multiply all the terms of the equation by the LCD.
3. Remove the parenthesis if possible.
4. Rewrite the quadratic equation in general form.
5. Solve the quadratic equation using any of the four different methods.
6. Check the answer.

E. APPLICATION
A.1 - Transform the following equation into, quadratic equations. Then solve and check the value of
the variable. (Pp. 178)
F. GENERALIZATION
Q.1 – What have you learned from this lesson?
Q.2 – What are the steps in in solving equations that are transformable into a Quadratic Equation?

IV. EVALUATION

A. Transform each item into quadratic equation and then solve for it.
1 2x
1. +3=
x 5
6 s−5
2. + =3
s +5 2
2 4
3. + =7
r−1 r + 5

V. ASSIGNMENT
Answer each problem.
1. What are the things that are manageable for you to transform or change? Why?

2. Do you consider a transformation or change entertaining, disappointing, or pleasing? When?
