The sum of two numbers is 19. The sum of the squares of the numbers is 193.
Find the two numbers.

Solution: BY USING QUADRATIC FORMULA


Let 𝑥 = one of the numbers
then, 19 − 𝑥 = the other number and
the sum of the squares of the two numbers is 𝑥 2 + (19 − 𝑥)2 .

Equation
𝑥 2 + (19 − 𝑥)2 = 193 The sum of the squares of the numbers is 193.

The length of a rectangular stock room is 4 meters more than its width. Find the
