Course learning outcome

At the end of this level (English Proficiency Level 4), students will be able to communicate
in everyday situations with frequently used expressions and using elementary vocabulary.
To use basic written language for simple practical purposes. To understand the main point
of short extracts in a limited range of situations.

Objective: Understand and use some vocabulary related to education

Education is the process of teaching or learning in a school, or the knowledge that you get from
this.

Grammar: Use of 'going to' for past intentions.

Objective: Can use ‘was/were going to’ to refer to past intentions

Was/were going to is often used to talk about an intention or plan that didn't happen.

For example: I was going to tell her but I didn't get time – a future plan or intention in the past.

Another example: they were going to start the project on Monday but had to change plans due to
an operational issue – a future plan or intention in the past.

We can use ‘used to’ to talk about past habits (repeated past actions) that don't happen any more.
I used to go swimming every Thursday when I was at school. She used to smoke but she gave up a
few years ago. used to + infinitive should not be confused with be/get used to + -ing, which has a
different meaning.

A tag question is a special construction in English. It is a statement followed by a mini-question. We


use tag questions to ask for confirmation. They mean something like: "Is that right?" or "Do you
agree?" They are very common in English.
The basic structure of a tag question is:

Reported speech is when we tell someone what another person said. To do this, we can use direct
speech or indirect speech. For example:
Direct speech: 'I work in a bank,' said Daniel.
Indirect speech: Daniel said that he worked in a bank.

El estudiante encontrará en la plataforma virtual un juego educativo llamado “ahorcado”, cuyo El
objetivo consiste en acertar la palabra secreta sin cometer más de un cierto número de fallos y antes
de que se agote el tiempo. El jugador podrá ir pidiendo letras que aparecerán en la palabra secreta
si ésta las contiene, en caso contrario contará como fallo. Para lograr completar la actividad de
manera satisfactoria es necesario que revise las temáticas abordadas en “Unit 2 - lesson 4” de la
Guía de Estudios. Recuerde que dispone de 1 intento.

Algunas instrucciones:

- Deben completar 8 palabras en total. Algunas están conformadas por dos o más palabras, ej:
boarding card.
- Tienen hasta 6 intentos por palabra.
- Las palabras que contienen más de dos palabras estarán separadas por un espacio el cual se
reflejará en el juego - es decir que es un espacio más por llenarse en el juego. Para el espacio 5 que
separa las palabras deberán seleccionar el símbolo _ (guion bajo) que está entre las opciones de
letras.
- Habrán palabras que contienen un guion medio ( - ) como por ejemplo: low-cost airline. En este
