Intrapersonal- This refers to a type of communication that isa focused on one person.
Interpersonal- This refers to the type of communication that takes place between and among people and creates
a personal relationship between and among them.
Types of Interpersonal Communication
Dyad Communication- Communication that happens between two people.
Small Groups-This applies to interactions involving at least three but not more than 12 people engaged in ftf
Interaction to achieve the desired goal.
Public- This type refers to a communication that able you to send or delivered a message before a crowd.
Mass Communication -This refers to communication through online flatform and not face to face
communication.

Speech-Form of communication in spoken language,made by a speaker before an audience
Types of Speech according to purpose
Informative or expository speech-Mainly performed for the purpose of educating the audience.
Persuasive speech- given solely for the purpose of conouncing the audience to agree with the speaker’s
Entairtainment speech-Aims to share laughter and enjoyment.
Manuscript speech-word for word iteration of a written message using visual aids
Memorized speech-wrote recitation of a written message that the speaker commitedto memory
Extremporaneous speech-presentation of a short message without advance preparation and is for people who are
knowledgeable about the subject

Speech style -Refers to the form of language that the speaker uses which is characterized by the degree of
formality.
Types of speech style
Intimate-is used for very closed friendship
Casual-is an informal communication between groups and peers who have something ID share and have shared
backgrouds information but do not have close relation
Consultative-is used in semi-formal and standard communication
Formal-is one way straight forward speech.
Frozen-is the most formal communication style that is usually used during solemn ceremonies

Speech act-Is an utterrancethat a speaker makes to achieve an intended effect

Locutionary act-the actual act of uttering or saying something
Illocutionary act-the social function of what is said in an illocutionary speech act it is not just saying something
itself but with the act of saying something with the intention.
Perlocutionary Act-refers to the consequent effect of what was said.
Searle’s Classification of speech act
-as a response to Austin’s speech act theory,john Searle(1976)
Assertive-The speaker expresses belief abouth the truth of a proposition. Some example are suggesting,putting
forward,swearing boasting and councluding.
Directive-the speaker tries to make the addresses perform an action. Some example are
asking,ordering,requesting.
Comminsive-commits the speaker to doing something in the future
Expressive-the speaker expresses his\her feelings or emotional reactions
Declaration-bring a charge in the eternal situation.
Types of communication strategy
Nomination-a speaker carries out nomination to collaboratively and productively establish a topic.
Restriction-restriction communication refers to any limitation you may have as a speaker and limit what you can
say.
Turn-taking-it pertain to the process by whichpeople decide to take the conversation floor.
Topic Control-covers how procedure formality or informality affects the development of topic in conversation.
Topic shifting-involves moving from one topic to another.
Repair-refers on how speaker addresses the problem in speaking listening and comprehending that they
encounter in a conversation.
Termination-refers to the conversation participants close containing expression that end a topic in a
conversation.
