Pattern Notes
● This is the Text Only version of the skrill pattern. If you get stuck, I recommend
looking at the images in the other pattern because they do help.
● The Skrill is a lightning dragon from the TV series How to Train Your Dragon. I
made this pattern because the Skrill is super cool and one of my favorite
dragons from the series. You can find other crochet patterns from how to train
your dragon at my shop, Imagined Yarn.
● This dragon can be made in any colors. For the eyes, you can use safety eyes,
but there are instructions on how to embroider eyes in this pattern.
*This pattern is for your personal use only. Please do not sell, share, or distribute this
pattern in any way. Feel free to sell handmade items from this pattern in a limited
number. If you are going to sell this item, please give credit to Imagined Yarn.

black, and light purple

Eyes
The instructions on how to embroider eyes for the skrill.
1: Begin with a long strand of yellow yarn on a yarn needle. Then choosing one side
of the head, sew overlapping lines for each eye. For my eyes I created a triangular
shape as shown in the diagram below, and then filled it in with more strands of yarn.
2: Then taking a strand of black yarn, make a line over the yellow to create the pupil.
If you want to add a small white strand for a light spot, this will make your dragon
appear friendlier. Weave in any extra ends.
Assembly
● Taking your body and both legs, pin the legs on either side of the body so that
the dragon balances as well as it can.
● Pin the line of spikes to the spine of your dragon. The long tail will be pointing
towards the head. When you are satisfied with the positioning, sew it on.
Weave in the ends.
● If you made the tummy piece, then pin and sew it to the underside of the
dragon. The long tail will be at the back of the dragon.
● If you are not using wire in your wings, fold the wing arms on top of each wing
in half and sew them together using the body color long tail. Then sew the
wings to the body and weave in all remaining yarn ends.
● If you are using wire, take one wing and your wire. Bend the wire so that it is
along the middle of the wing arm.

● Then using the body color long tail, sew the wing arm together around the
wire.
● Insert the other end of the wire through one of your skrill’s shoulders.
● Then taking the other wing, bend the other side of the wire along the wing arm
and sew it together around the wire. Cut the wire before sewing.
● Sew the wings to the body using the wing color long tails. Weave in all the
extra yarn tails.
● If you made the wing claws, sew them to the tips of the wings and weave in the
ends.
Congratulations!
