ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

o The assignment must be submitted in the following forms:


o Soft copy (WORD FORMAT) to be uploaded to the LMS on the due date before 11.59
pm
o Document name: Module name-Student name
o 80% attendance for lectures is compulsory
o Attendance verification sheet must be attached to the end of the assignment softcopy in word
format or as a screenshot.
o Multiple submissions for higher grading are not allowed
o Late submissions:
o 1st Late submission – 2 weeks from the original submission date with a penalty of Rs.
2,000.00 and results capped at a Pass
o 2nd Late submission - 4 weeks from the original submission date with a penalty of Rs.
5,000.00 and results capped at a Pass
o If the assignment is not submitted at the 2nd late submission a penalty of Rs. 10,000
must be paid and the submission must be done within 03 months from the initial
submission date.
o If the assignment is not submitted within 03 months form the initial submission the
student must retake the module

o If the student is unable to submit the assignment on time, extensions will be granted
only for critical illnesses for which a medical certificate is required from the given
hospital list.

o Resubmission opportunity

An assignment provides the final assessment for the relevant learning outcomes and is
normally a final assessment decision. A student who, for the first assessment opportunity, has
failed to achieve a Pass for that unit specification shall be expected to undertake a
reassessment.
o Reassessment for course work, shall normally involve the reworking of the original
task.
o For examinations, reassessment shall involve a new question paper or new
assignment
o A student who undertakes a reassessment will have their grade capped at a Pass for
that unit.
o The student must submit the redo by uploading to the LMS on the due date before
11.59 pm
o Failure to submit on the resubmission date will be considered as a late submission and
the respective process will be followed.

o A student can be given up to 02 Redo’s. In case a student does not
meet the required criteria in the second Redo as well a penalty of Rs. 10,000 has to be paid
and the 3rd Redo must be submitted.

o Students are required to pay the late submission fee 24 hours before the submission
date and forward the deposit slip to pay@hrmi.lk. Failure in making the payment will
lead to an automatic block of your submission in the LMS

Repeat Units

o A student who, for the first assessment opportunity and resubmission opportunities, still failed
to achieve a Pass for that unit specification, is required to re attend the module.
o The student must study the unit again with full attendance and may be required to
make a payment of the unit fee.
o The overall unit grade for a successfully completed repeat unit is capped at a Pass for
that unit.
o Units can only be repeated once

o Non submission of work without valid reasons will lead to an automatic REFERRAL requiring
submission of the assignment with the next batch.

1. Every assignment should have an Introduction and Conclusion.
2. The standard Table of Contents should be generated.
3. Main heading Font: Arial; Size 16
4. Sub Heading Font: Arial; Size 14
5. Body Text Font: Arial; Size 11
6. Line & Paragraph spacing: Single Line.
7. Margins: Top: 1” Bottom:1” Left:1” Right:1”
8. Footer: Include the page number on the Right side.
9. All sections should have continuity and pages should be clearly labelled.
10. Referencing: Students are required to use Harvard Referencing System; Maximum similarity
allowed would be 15%.
11. Permitted variation in the word count – 10% more or less than the given word limit
